i'm going to use friday to make sure my resume is up to scratch, put it that way.

anyway, i spoke to mr big mod today and finally got a nice straight answer. he was getting a mate to bring it up from brisbane for me (i already knew that) but he still has it sitting at his place doing nothing.

if it hasnt come up by friday he will put it on a train for me.

i'm happy with that. see what happens on friday  :fingers crossed:

THE BIG MODS ARRIVED!!!!

nah! just kidding! :P

i have tried to neaten up a couple of loose ends in these fews days i've had off though (why not i spose) so i thought i might just chuck up a couple of little pictures.

Way back i put up a blurry picture of a double din head unit, well i finially finished modifying the stereo surround to fit properly this week. I'm really happy with how it cmae out, and its nice to have it all neatened up in there again

Image

In putting in the new headunit, i needed a couple of switches to get around the handbrake thing for watching dvds whilst driving, add to that the fog light switch and the one for turning on and off the sub amp, and i've got a heap of switches that i cant really find neat homes for anymore. add to that i didnt like how difficult the fog light switch made getting the stereo surround off, so i decided i needed something like a switch panel.

Image

so from the top down we have momentary for the handbrake thing, handbrake for headunit to run properly or bypass, sub amp and then fog lights. you can also see the "intergrated" mp3 player inut cable for the head unit too. all in all, i thought it came up really neat. nice clean way to get them all out of the way. i also added a plug (old computer printer style 21-pin jigger) to the cables around the cupholders so i can still easily get the centre console in and out.

comments?

Im liking the double din unit you got there Nicco, looks good, and seems to fill the space quite well and looks like it should be there :)

The switches in the centre console compartment look neat too, hidden out of the place.

Nice coin collection i might add, ive got one of those going at the moment aswell

thanks kwik, i'm pretty happy with how the whole lot turned out. its really the only place i could think of to put a bunch of switches without them being lairy and in the way.

chaddy... :( no

so i am pretty much over it now. I have been trying to ring old mate every day since monday and he hasnt answered, and since wednesday his phone has either been off or out of range. :?

so i might as well as here, does anyone know the member off here NLBXR6, and more specifically know an alternative (to his mobile) number that i can try to contact him on? He is from brisbane too btw.

update for any of those who are interested, big mod might as well officially be called off now, old mate has disappeared off the face of the planet it seems. turns out he owes some money to some other people too that i have spoken to whilst trying to chase him down. :(

so for those of you who waited with baited breath (as did I), i reveal to you what would have been the big mod.

the list consisted of:
EL XR6 motor
new pistons
new bearings
new timing gear
turbo manifold
turbo
wastegate
injectors
walbro fuel pump
wold 3d ecu (with hand controller)
wiring harness for the wolf
intercooler
assorted alloy piping
laser cut base for plenum to replace the bbm top half
template and alloy to create the rest of the plenum

i think there might have been a couple of other things in there too.

oh well, now i just want to get my money back and get on with other s**t

EDIT: on the bright side, at least i didnt go and buy an engine stand and a torque wrench like i was going to! that would've just added insult to injury!

s**t man... Bad news. Good luck with getting your cash back. I'd like to say that I hope you didn't pay much but by the look of that list, that'd be a waste of time.

theres also the possibilty that those 'mates' he owes money to that you contacted and told you to look elsewhere, couldve been told to say that so you stopped looking in their direction?

that f**k sucks man, i dunno how people in the car club community could do that to each other, as they know it would feel if it was done to them. Good luck with receiving your goods, or getting your money back, hope it all works out for you !!!

When he is not at his place for some reason on numerous occasions, mobile numbers change and no one can find him, i think it,s a little more than that

and on other good news fronts: i just put down a deposit on my big mod today, hopefully the parts will be on the truck sometime this week, around wednesday. :D f**k stoked! cant wait till i get to see it all!

so on the 10th of April i wrote that. and today, the 3rd of July, we finally are getting somewhere. got the first bit of my money back this morning. 1/7th to be exact. But, its a step in the right direction at least.

i get the impression that the money had already been spent, which means its going to be a long slow road to getting it back, but i can handle that.

Such a relief to see some of it coming back in, even as a drip. :)

and brett, sam, yeah this is s**t. not liking not having anyy work, i'm pretty much sure i wont be doing engineering again at least until the end of the year, so i'll just pick something random up in the meantime.

oh and my home computer is still f**k
