and ??..what was your peek?.
that torque reading is at max power/max rpm though, im more interested in the peak torque as this is what gets it moving not the torque at max revs.
but considering at other times during the 30 odd dyno runs it was up to 520 and did spike to 600. :?
anyway it will be going to get a better tune as its f**k up..

that torque reading is at avg over all! peak is only a second of top power and it's all back down again! so peak don't mean sh*t,cause it only last a second it's avg torque that you need to worry about as that is what is driving your car through the rev's. and my torque is pretty flat and consistent, no up's or down's
I wouldn't be worryed about peak torque ok or kw more how consistent you can get it through the range of the band..

i dont know how you work that out ??

if you look at the print out at the point of max kw the torque is only 409nm..which is the lowest amount of torque in the graph. you really got to look at the whole power and torque curb.
what i look at is the torque and kw from about 2500rpm to about 4000rpm which is 175kw about where peak torque of 470nm is, thats the usable torque that gets you the acceleration from gear to gear. there is no point looking at the torque at 5700 as ive already accelerated and then about to change gear.
anyway considering its still running like s**t its still got s**t loads more go than before..

so far yes im fairly confident its up to the task..
considering the box is the original one from my old ea and has around 400,000km on it.
its really due for a freshen up, but ive done a few hard launches a couple of small sideway take off's even a second gear launch and the only thing that i have noticed is the rear shaft seal is weeping a little oil.
otherwise there are no signs of extra noise or signs of failure..
so i think as long as i keep the abuse reasonable i think the t5 will be fine.

although... i do have a spare t5 just incase!!

A spare T5? A blower? Able to go dyno tune?

Wish I was Troydude.

Thing is - Have been watching your trials and tribulations with the blower install very carefully and although initially impressed with apparent ease with which you installed the hardware, the fact that you've been having all these complications with getting it to run properly is scaring the hell out of me and my ambition to go down a similar route.

Guess things like this should be left to those who know what they're doing and have enough cash as a backstop for when things go a little pear shaped. Although I am saying this in a sober moment - once you get it all running properly and start posting videos of third gear power sliding I'll be reviewing the situation...

And hey, that sort of power is usable (as displayed in dyno sheet, above)... If it was a N.A. setup still you'd be bloody happy with it, so IS IT MORE FUN TO DRIVE? Or a pain in the a***?

well the whole situation has been difficult because of the hybrid mix. ed with el ecu wit au engine.
if it was an el with everything el i would have just used the j3 that would have come with s/c kit.
but things didnt work out as planned..
and the first issues were due to a piggyback ecu that was junk.
and the most recent are from the new ecu not being installed the way i expected..
so dont let my issues scare you away from the boosted side of life..
and even with all the hickups its still fun to drive. :D

today i have undone all the wires from the ems that were linked to the factory ecu as it was semi piggyback so i totally removed the factory ecu and now the ems is totally stand alone ..
as it was there was a light surging at cruising rpm and light throttle.
now that the ems is in full control the surging has dissapeared. :D
im now also running the thermo fans off the ems aswell.. :)

so i now have a el ghia ecu up for sale..

this the nest of wires..

Hey Troy,

Should be able to do the ISC now, well maybe. Shame about the dodgy install. Could've saved some dough and done it yourself, no problems, end of story........

You gonna give Rigoli's a call and see what happens, i am curious as to the cost of them tweaking a tune.....Might be worth it??

Cheers mate

Daz

well tonight i took the car out for a night run. and since the factory ecu has been removed the driveability is great.. :)
and the ems is a fantasic toy..
ive been driving around logging data and playing with the tune via my laptop..
one thing i noticed is the air intake temp started out at about 65deg f. and while cruising on a cold night like tonight the temp averages around the 70deg f mark and rises up to around 85 to 90 deg in traffic. but once i got cruising again the temp dropped back to the 65 deg, then i slowed down and nailed it 1st gear..
and from 1700rpm to 5500 the temp increased from 65 to 107 deg f @9 psi, just like that  .
then within 15 seconds of cruising the temp had dropped to 70 deg f so i really can see why an intercooler is benificial..
anyway heres a little 1st and second run..

Mate --- Glad to see you got some figures on the air intake temp side of things...! Well done. Makes the N/A throttle temp of around 65 seem tame huh? That equates to a little heating of the intake air, not an actual figure of 65...

You remember how some mathemetician worked out that 20 degrees celcius = 1psi boost...?!

Just what is F into Celcius? Guess 100 is about 40 degrees Celsius... So 65 F would be about 20 Celsius at combustion inlet? Yeah, guess you should see why an intercooler and keeping your air intake away from heat sources is important!

Be thankful you don't have an M90 which would boost almost from idle...! That EMS of yours would pop your eyes out of your head then!?!????

umm yea 65f = 18.3c..
im not sure about the 20 deg.c=1 psi boost?
the intake was logged at 8.2 psi and that was where the air temp was logged at 107 deg.f.
the ems ecu is good in that way it logs info 10 times a second.
it logs rpm,vac/pressure,afr,ignition timing,tps,injector duty,bat volts,water temp,air temp, and the aux outputs..
it does its logs in a numerical set in colums or in a graph..
it really has given me a deeper understanding into how the ecu operates and the impact of temprature, timing and fuel has on the way the engine performs...

From all the extra info you are getting Troy do you think that maybe inlet temp is causing the pinging issue?
It might be worth setting up a water/metho injection kit running off a hobbs pressure switch and seeing how things go.
Lower inlet temps under boost will help in reguards to pinging.

Dude --- Just trust me on that one. Air volume increases (looses density) at a rate equal to about 1psi boost every 20 Celsius (or so). It's all on http://www.physicsforums.com or something where I signed up after talking to some bloody PhD physics geeks about it and not remembering what they were saying fifteen minutes later!

Basically - If you were at the 1/4 mile strip and had an inlet air temp of 20 at 7am you would have the equal amount of burnable air as you would if you had 1psi boost doing the same 1/4 mile at two in the afternoon when temperature had increased to 40.

As you know --- Amount of air, amount of fuel (ratio of both) and a host of other things go to create the "perfect bang" in your combustion chamber. The more molecules of air (and the other, burnable, stuff) crammed into that chamber, the more it's going to go bang!

That EMS thing sure sounds like the goods alright!

WATER INJECTION. Now, we're talking!
