94 EL GLi 6CYL AUTO WAGON
NO FUEL RETURNING TO TANK PULLED FILTER OFF PUMP HAS GOOD OUT PRESSURE FILTER HAS GOOD FLOW NO FUEL RETURNING TO THE FUEL TANK. HAVE NOT DONE PRESSURE TEST AT FUEL RAIL YET.
CAR IS RUNNING AS IF IS STARVING OF FUEL.STARTS AFTER ABOUT 6-7 CRANKS IDLES OK BUT WILL NOT DRIVE WITH MORE THAN 1/4 THROTLE BARELY GO UP A SLIGHT HILL(WALKING PACE).
IF YOU HIT THE ACCELERATOR IT COUGHS SPLUTTERS AND BACK FIRES OUT THE INTAKE AT ANY SPEED DOES THE SAME THING.PUT HAND OVER THROTLE BODY INTAKE COVERING 95% AND COULD HIT ACCELERATOR WITHOUT ANY BACKFIRE COUGH OR SPLUTTER. IT PICKED UP A BIT SLOW BUT EVEN AND SMOOTH.TOOK HAND OFF BACK TO COUGH AND SPLUTTER.
THINKING MAYBE REGULATOR BLOCKAGE OR FUEL RAIL?

Pull the fuel line off just before the fuel regulator. Put your thumb over the fuel line and get someone to turn the car on. You shouldn't be able to hold the fuel pressure with your thumb, so it should squirt fuel out the sides of your thumb. If you can hold the pressure with your thumb there is something wrong. Check the fuel pump in the tank, sometimes the fitting between the fuel pump and the housing comes loose or breaks, you will still get fuel flow, but not enought pressure to run the car.. Other wise your fuel pump has packed it in..

WILL BE TESTING PRESSURE AT FUEL RAIL TODAY BUT FIND IT STRANGE THAT THE PRESSURE AT THE FUEL FILTER SEEMED GOOD DID NOT PRESSURE TEST THOUGH JUST TURNED PUMP ON AND FUEL SHOT OUT ABOUT 1.5MT AND SPLATTERED EVERY WHERE UNDER CAR
