Hey Guys,

My ABS stopped working and I tracked the fault to Code 32 - RHR Sensor Continuity fault. Now, upon measuring the sensor resistance at the module port and finding no problem, I assume the ABS Module has crapped itself. I have a replacement off another EF (Fairmont).

Would it be a straight swap? I have to bleed brakes anyhow as I just replaced teh amster cylinder so that's no biggy.

cheers!

There are two versions of the Bosch ABS system in the EF/EL's - make sure you have the right unit - so check if they look the same.
You can plug the new unit in without connecting brakelines, do a test and see if it's okay.
The original problem might be corroded pins, so check them also.

Also be aware that the 6 and 8's have a different module. The 8 mounts the brake lines and the rear, and the 6 at the front. Or vice versa, i cant remember

its also possible to replace just the top electronics part by removing the plastic shrouding on the main module on the EFs. easier and a little less messy than removing the lines as it sounds like an electrical problem.

Do they ??
AFAIK it's model specific - late EF's/EL's get the Bosch ABS 5.3, early EF's get the Bosch ABS 2U.

Here's some info on the 5.3 - the ford equivalent unit will be similar. http://www.bba-reman.com/content.aspx?c ... bs_removal

Thanks guys. Just finished replacing it.

Module was b0rked. checked pins, they were fine. Module was out of a 6 cyl fairmont and is a 2U. It is the same the b0rked one. So EF 6 and 8 cyls modules are the same.

:)
