i am giving the worked crossy the a*** and building a new engine for next race season (speedway) anyways i have a AU VCT i can get my hands on and i am thinking of having a play with it but with the barra's so cheap at the moment i have had thoughts of running a barra,

option 1 : 4.0l vct, acl flat tops, light port and polish and cam

unsure wether to run 390 holley and aftermaket electronic ignition or injection and edis using a megasquirt

option 2 : stock barra

what options do i have here for fuel and spark managament ? can the megasquirt run the coil on plug ?

help me please, what is going to make more power for the dollar, i have a budget i have to stick to

Megasquirt can run coil packs with EDIS which you can then plug leads into sparkplugs on the BA motor.

That is what I was going to do but got over it.

i did think of that but i dont really want leads hanging out of a BA engine, look dodged.

i am unfamiliar with the BA coil on plug anyways would it work if i was to run the MSII EDIS but instead of running the coil pack could i wire the MSII directly to the coils on plug and have the MSII firing in the same way with a complimentary cylinder firing.

are you allowed to make modifacations to a barra motor? with a little bit of development those motors are very quick and will produce heaps of power with a good dyno tune.

but for outright power (barra stock), the modded au is probably better

yer mate it runs in opens saloons no restrictions at all, the only reason i said stock barra was because the only cams i can locate are in a package worth $2500 i anit spending that much on cams, after pricing them dropped the thought of modding the barra.

is an option leaving barra top end with a port & polish, shaved pistons, sump mods, boar the cylinders a bit and get a good motec tune on it? i'd say you'd be getting a around what you'd get in the au, maybe a tad less
