EF and EL ecu have different pins in the plug so it wont be a simple plug and play - you will have to change the harness as well

The simple answer is yes but:

The EFs have four relays driving the thermo fans whereas the ELs only have 3 relays.

The problem is the EF also have four pins from the ECU that drive the relays, whereas you only have two.

It is much easier the other way around. I put an DL ECU and fitted it to a EF loom and only had to rearrange the thermo fan relay pack to suit.

To make yours work, you will need to do the same. Rearrange your three EL thermo fan relay pack to four relays and send the two extra wires to your EF XR8 ECU. Also, to throw another spanner into the works, you're going to need the tranny ECU and associated loom to make it all work.

I've been there and done that so if you need any help with diagrams etc, let me know :)
