Does anyone know when the CAPA flash tuner will be released for the ef/el series before the 28th october? (heathcote) if not can anyone recommend a good programmable ecu around the $1600 dollar mark? I've heard good things about the megasquirt 2.

the interceptor chip and the flash tuner are two different things, but megasquirt 2 sounds like a goer.

Nah mate they are the same. Just a a different way to load the same tune onto the factory computer.

You could use the chip on the AU if you wanted.

Work on E-Series support didn't really start until the AU was done (and even then, after GM/LS1 support), so I dont know where you guys get this "its be coming out for years" garbage from.

The first it was formally anounced was in July this year.

Like the AU, and the BA/BF before it....its ready when its ready.

On the Ford EEC, you can plug in a "chip" (actually a small daughterboard) to an external adapter called the J3 service port.

Doing this overrides the factory calibration with whatever calibration is on the chip e.g. less fuel, more ignition timing, higher rev limiter...etc.

There are thousands of things you can change to "tune" the engine no matter wether it is stock, has alloy heads and a mild cam, or twin turbos.

They are sold pre-programmed, but they can be loaded with a custom tune.
