Have down the BBM conversion, and was wondering if any have been able to use the EL computer to control the auto instead of the stand alone which sits under the dash.

All wires are the same expect for the signal returns (dont have the exact ones in front of me, but checking the workshop manuals - this is the only difference)

If it cant be done is it due to the difference in the EF/EL autos or is there something I am missing. Had to adapt the EA TPS's (One for engine, one for auto) to the BMM, what a pain!

Any help or walkthroughs will be receieved greatfully.

I am about to do this conversion as I have an EL dash in my EA. The only wires that need to be moved to the ECU are the solenoid wires and the thick voltage supply wire + temp sender wires (2) The second tps can b disconnected as the other one tell the ECU directly as the gearbox cont is in the ecu. From what I have seen the other wiring stays the same ie park/neut switch etc. Oh u have to change the econ/perf switch/lamp over. Alth wires are in the same pos on the 4 speed auto's just diff colour. I have all the diags etc if u need. PM me.

I purchased the workshop maunuals just to do this conversion, but blow me I stil cant get the thing to work.

It starts of in Limp home mode, dont know whether it will change after a set period. Just dont have the patience anymore!

BTW the hardest thing/part was wiring up the smafrtlock....what a real pain!

Yes I had the smartlock job with the dash, but had no problems luckerly.
I would suspect that the temp sensor is causing the limp home mode prob.

Also when fitting the EL ecu you have to make it think it is still in an EL by using resistors for some sensors.
Have you run a KOEO test on the ECU. Very simple to make a LED tester. The fault codes may give you what you need. Its hard to tell without knowing what you have connected up. I spent quite a while getting it all right. The ECU fault codes gave the clues.
Dont give up, the ECU test should help you locate the problem, which may NOT be gearbox related.

Did this with the engine of and got some faults regarding thermos etc.
With the engine running it produced so many "fast code" faults it never actually gave the slow codes. To make matters more interesting, I have a duel fuel setup....UGH!!!!

My only real complaint is that I cant develop full power in 4th gear, but have run it to 194 in 3rd (well into the red band) I know it is a bit "naughty" :D :D
