It'll likely have slightly more aggresive timing to go with the slighty different cam xr6's got.

If you get if for free then great but if you pay for it then it probably not your most cost/gain effective choice.

But also make sure if your car is pre-smartlock that its not a smarlock ECU otherwise you'll be stuck up s**t creek and either have to pay for a smarlock bypass ($100 or so) or revert back to original ECU

Its cool,

Smartlock is basically a security system that Ford introduced that was good in its time. It's basically just a combo of the central locking and an immobiliser.

If yours is a series 2 then you'll have smartlock, although being a 92 then possibly not, Smartlock came in around Sept '92 I believe.

These should help you work it out-
- Is there a red light in the bottom left of the cluster that flashes saying "SMARTLOCK" ?
- Otherwise do you use a remote to lock and unlock the doors? Or just the key?
- Is there a sticker on one of the back windows saying smartlock?
- Do you have a button next to the power aerial switch that lets you lock/unlock the doors?

If you have got those then it'll be smartlock, otherwise not.

Well I suppose then it's likely you don't have smartlock, but don't hold me to that.

I guess it all comes down to, if its there give it a go and see if it'll start (it won't if you haven't got smartlock and the ECU is smartlock).

But I wouldn't really be paying much for it.
