Is there anywhere in Melbourne, or Australia for that matter, that I can send a suspect ECU to so it can be checked and/or repaired? It would have to b e easier than trying to find another 2nd hand one, and cheaper than a new one :)

EL ECU's are dirt cheap..

I bought a Tickford EL fairmont ghia ECU which is a big upgrade over standard on Ebay for 35 bucks..

not many repairs are cheaper than that.

I gotta try to find a 4tef (ef i6 dual fuel,wagon) haven't seen one yet :(

Most are for sedans. I don't think sedan ones work properly with the different final gearing on the wagon

try any dual fuel ecu, then use a speedo correcter to alter the shift points back to normal

or you could go the expensive route and get your repaired

from what I understand, because of the taller gearing on the wagon, the ecu will mess up the gear changes, as it gets confused with the road speed compared to the engine speed.

I may be wrong though.

Is the 4teg for dual fuel?

Pity you are in Perth. I could try it, and if it worked, buy it.

Gotta go out now, so probably wont reply until 2morrow

It will be fine.

I ran an EL Ghia Tickford ECU designed to work with the 3.45 gears for a year in my car that had 3.23 gears. Not an issue worth mentioning.

The base sedans had 3.08 gears, Fairmont Sedans 3.27, and wagons or all types 3.27 (excluding XR6).

Yup, it's a tickford dual fuel ECU for an EF falcon.

I'm selling it for what I paid for it.. which was 30 bucks.. (back then I didn't know any better and the guy told me it was from an EL.)
