hi there, would someone please help me with a 4.0 ed falcon, it seems to crank over a bit longer than normal before starting , the other day i had to drive down to the shops and when i went to restart it kept cranking over, it cranked quickly like it was about to start but cranked for about 40 seconds, when it started it seemed to run a bit rough for 10-15 seconds, after driving off it seemed to run fine but when i got home it had a slight flat spot off idle, next morning started and drove to work and back with no probs, it is also only returning 390-400 ks a tank is which i thought should be a bit more , any help would be greatly appreciated...cheers

how long since injectors had a clean? My ea did a similar thing and the lead came off in my hand when I went to check the plug. Check both.

Have a look at your engine coolant temp sensor. This gives the same effect when its hard to start, keeps whining over then eventually starts, then runs rough because of the injectors floodin up the plugs.See how you go.

thanks guys , also would it be worth my while to try and reset the ecu? if so is it a matter of just disconnecting the battery for 15 mins?, when i put my fingere over the end of the pcv the engine idles slower and seems to run better, then when i plug it back into the tappet cover the revs rise again

thanks mate you were spot on with the temp sensor , it was actually the plug that was fitting loose on the 2 prongs, closed the connectors up and now running perfect , thanks to all
