I've got a tough question, any ideas which ECU will be better for running on LPG an EF XR6 ECU or an EF Tickford LPG ECU.
Now hears why it's tough as the engine and exhaust is all XR6 spec or better (as far as I know XR6's came with 2 1/2" factory exhaust and the Wade cam is roughly based on the XR6 cam to start with).
Currently I have fitted an EF XR6 ECU.
Obviously an EF XR6 fitted with factory Tickford LPG ECU would be the one I'm after. Also, anyone got any part numbers for this stuff?

I am guessing that there is no XR6 tickford LPG specific ECU, if any XR6 was dealer fitted then I would think it would be the standard tickford LPG ECU that was fitted. Having said that there was one advertised on EBAY not so long back but as I said I suspect dealer fitted not XR6 specific.
You can call Automotive Service Solutions on 1300 30 40 60 , perhaps someone there can confirm my thoughts. There are benifits in having the different timing maps but I think you would be hard pressed to see or feel the difference over the XR6 ECU. You can still install the tickford system and retain the trip meter DTE readings by cutting the injector power with the internal relay provided in the Vaille ECU.
Cheers
Tony

I'm fitting a GRA set up, not a Tickford set up.
So XR6's didn't get the option of Tickford LPG from the factory?

Not that I know, I do know they are only an auto ECU. If you are using the GRA carb are you using an ECU? I removed the ECU from my old EF GRA V8 for better economy and more power. I guess you do need to keep the EPA happy.
heers

I have to keep the ECU! As it controlls my automatic transmission (V8's had a seperate one for this I think) and it controlls the ignition system!

I meant the LPG ECU not the Engine ECU. Thats the problem with 3 letter acronyms, I refer to ECU generally as Electronic Control Unit. Automotive refer to it as Engine control Unit.

Ah, I dunno, I never realy thought about it. Wouldn't it run better with the GRA LPG ECU?

No not necessarily with a properly setup carb, the ECU is there to meet emmisions and improve economy but mostly to satisfy ADR's.

i'd be inclined to fit a separate ignition controller,
msd second hand or get something like a delta max igniton controller can store two different settings for dual fuel purposes and only $330 new.

better setup as you have said you want boost.
