i'd be going to down to ford and buying a new thermostat. then, i'd be doing a diagnostic on it to see if its throwing any codes, like intake air temp or oxy sensor etc, then i'd be looking into injectors and stuff then vaccum lines

im lucky to better 15.7 per 100k average, but thats cos i drive only 5 klms to work and the car doesnt really ever get to operating temp

that's pretty much my problem, it's not running rich or anything, emissions are normal.

well fellas. my odomoter just ticked over 100km after i filled up and my trip is readin 17L/100km. the bad thing is that i dun think the trip is reading it wrong. my fuel tank needle was passed the F line when i filled it up. and now is already half way if not closer to the second line after the Full line. now i know something is wrong. its not vac because i just sealed the vac hose that goes behind my dash. now i haev to check return line, injectors (most likely) and then temp and and oxy. time to invest in a multi meter.

once i get that fixed ill give more updates. and i tihnk a full tank at this rate would give me at least 300km so i hope

just out of interest, can someone tell me where the coolant temp sensor is? i know there's a sensor in the bottom of the thermostat housing and i KNOW that affects my temp gauge, is this also the one that the ECU uses?

i think ur doing way better then me. im hitting 200km and the thing is still at 17l/100km. thats with a little bit of flooring. rest is driving below 2000rpm. im half way through the tank already....probably have less then a tank left.

well, this tank ive done 343km and trip comp says 88km left..

so at this rate its 430km from a full tank (68L for when trip comp says 0 left). thats with about 80-100km of freeway driving. so about 16L/100km :\

all i really want is to be able to crack about 400km till fuel light comes on. or almost 500 from a full 68L ;)

well when the EL's came out supposedly they only drink 12.5L/100km city driving. after 10 years i think it would drop to about 14L/100km but even at 14L/100km u should be able to get 485km and at 12.5L/100km u should get over 500.

Gaz at 16L/100km u should get about 425km so yeah at least ur trip is going well. i should be getting 400km if im lucky but at this rate i think im only getting 350km and thats like 19L/100km......ahhhhh its giving me a headache =(

EDIT: btw is it hard to change the fuel reg? cause i found out that since i changed my fuel filter (the old one was extremely blocked) my fuel eco went down the drain. i was thinking the whole fuel line is stuffed. where is the best place to pull the return line off to check if the line is blocked? i tried at the fuel pump but the black plastic thing is stopping me from unplugging it =( its too stiff and cant pull it back.

your fuel eco woulda gone donw the drain if the last one was extremely blocked because at a guess id say it would have been running a little leaner.

i found it better to accelerate around 1800 to2000 rpm car doesnt seem to be labouring as much. but my trip computer only tells me that im gonna get 450k's out of a full tank but i get about 600 (highway) then when im down to a 1/4 of a tank my trip comp says i have about 80k's but i do another 80 k's before my fuel light comes on? so i dont really trust the trip comp

well when i had the block filter in it would let me rev up to a certain point and it would be like choking. it would hesitate and stuff. idle was really rough. when i changed the filter it was all fine and then i noticed high fuel consumption. i thought the computer would have learnt that by now :S

dsheps83 i dont trust my trip either. it actually sais i still have 250 km in the tank....by judging how fast the needle goes down im hoping to get 150

i might replace the fuel reg, and then other fuel line related things. as well as cleaning injectors. then reset ECU.

btw do lifters, valves and cams have a say with fuel eco? like when they stuff up

the main problem with high perol usage with el's is flat tires. pump the tires up and see if that does the trick.
my brothers ef fairmont was doing 18l/100km pump the tires up(a little more then recomennded) reset the ecu and was doin 12
