OI air filters are a big drama if they are a bit shagged, go get a K&N filter. im getting 430 kays from a tank of gas - highway or 730k to a tank of fuel on the highway. town drivin im gettin 350 or so kays from gas and bout 450 or so kays from fuelage.

that hissing noise could be your brake booster, if it is the booster you may also have a miss caused by this air leak.

lol uh used he he. well if you are really worried about fuel consumption, the lancer by bitsamissin my boss has, ye olde 91 model does 6.3 litres per hundred kays. which i reckons F**k awesome.
my ef has done a s**t load of miles too 326000 now. so i reckon somethings not right there.. air filter be the first thing to change. :P

:P economy vs safety

i think my economy is ok, nothing wonderful but it should be around 400km / tank but my car hiccups and splutters on petrol when its cold which really s**t me so i've been running around of LPG mostly, escpecially now that its staying under 50c/L. i just flick it to petrol when i go for a hills runs or trying to slide in the industrial areas (petrol loves lots of throttle - it doesn't splutter then)...but not to hijack your thread - i've b**ch about all this in another thread of my own 8-)
