I have an ea falcon with bbm manifold and have just got an el ecu with a smartlock bypass module, does anyone know if the el ecu will run my car

Hey,
I'm no expert, but i believe it should run ok, there could be some teething problems, but as i understand it, the EL ecu is for the BBM and the thermo fans operation. I guess if u have matched the gearbox type with the ecu then it should be plain sailing. I am having some issues with my EL 4.0L in my Maverick, hopefully the auto elec will sort it out on Monday. Who knows i might get lucky and it might start for me on Sunday. Cheers Daz

Well i will confirm that it does work, after 30 minutes i had the ea running on the el ecu, just add 2 wires 3 if you want thermo fans and away u go, well you must use a smart lock bypass aswell which i will be making for about $60.00 very soon

Hey,
Good on you getting it running. Yes i have got a smartlock bypass, which i could've made myself also, as i believe the are just a regulated power supply, to feed the 6V, i think, to the ecu. I am not going to use the ecu for the thermo fans, to many relays to hook up. I have a fan controller i made which uses a thermistor to detect the amount of heat and switch a relay at any preset temperature. I am going to have one fan on all the time (the slow one), then when it gets hot, switch over to the two fans together. Cheers Daz

Where did you get the smart lock overide modual from? I got mine from shiftkits.com.au and it doesnt work the pos!

i got mine from a member on here (66 coupe). i think its a shift kit.com one.. ive never had a problem with mine |
