hey guys

first off, car is as follows:

95 ef futura
auto
on aftermarket lpg
315,00kms
all stdandard

car has started getting slower & slower to 'react' as such to the key turning over - powers up etc all ok when turned to 'acc', however once key is turned to crank the starter motor, takes about 2 seconds to kick in, and is getting longer

am i correct in presuming its either a BEM or ECU related event? i've run the self-tester to clear the fault codes, and it comes up clean

suggest away!

cheers :)

BEM, or ignition barrel, Not ECU related!

I would expect a delay of up to .8ish of a second anymore there's a issue

Pull the CRT LP fuse, and motor it over.
Does it engage starter motor any quicker??

are you saying it takes longer to fire or longer to start turning over the engine.. ie turn key *delay of 2 seconds* engine turns?

ok - heres a quick rundown:

changed the engine bay relay over, seemed ok, but its really only a cold start thing - starts ok during the day, but every morning its s**t!

changed the BEM over, did the relearn etc - yet its still the same :|

car def has petrol, i will confirm tonight it runs ok on petrol as well as on LPG (only use LPG for daily driving)

it doesn't take as long to start as it did before the BEM swap, though it usually starts after i've turned the key on & off 3 times

it has me stumped, as its not a problem i can replicate! BEM is swapped (what would be the chances of having 2 faulty BEM's?), nothing comes up on fault codes, fuses & relays look good...

help! :o

Ugly Bob,
I have the same problem, and like you I have changed the BEM and starter relay. I have also changed the starter motor. Only two things left, the ignition switch and the inhibitor switch.

My next move will be an ignition switch. I still believe it to be something mechanical not elecrical. This may have to wait till next pay though.

Good luck, and please post if you solve the problem.
