i got a new starter motor
thought id try it with the wire straight to the battery and its now trying to start
just not enough charge in the battery to start it so now it seems i have bought a new starter motor when it wasnt needed but i did the wire trick the other day and it wouldnt work
wtf is going on
sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt
y its this happening

seeing as the new starter motor im thinking maybe my starter could be faulty or something
i dont no

all i got at the moment is a few spanners and screwdriver and a shifter until i can access more tools as mine went waking again:(

how many bolts are the to take out the v8 starter? normally 2 but i have found 3 lol
atm im doing it without even jacking the car upas the angle the cars ar isnt safe for a scissor jack and i dont have a trolley jack f**k its hard lol
but thats life aye

any help would be great
i have been over the wires time and time again so i think it has to be a faulty starter motor

Sorry to hear you're still have issues. First make sure your battery is fully charged. A new starter + fully charged batter + jumper wire method = car starting. If your car is not starting then one of the following is your problem:
1. Battery not fully charged or not holding its charge. (highly possible)
2. New starter is intermittent. (less likely)
3. Main Battery + wire too starter or neg batt term too eng wire failing under load (highly possible)
4. Damaged teeth on the flywheel ring gear causing engagement problems (less likely if nil rotation)

All these suggestions are for nil start using the jumper wire method. If using the key other items can add to the problem like the starter relay, smartlock and ignition switch.

next time it does it, hold the key in the start position, and smack the handbrake lever upwards with an open palm (quite hard) and see if it turns over.

He's not using the ignition switch so faulty BEM/Smartlock doesn't come in to play. Banging around the handbrake isn't going to achieve anything in this case.

does sound like the solenoid on the starter.

ok well pitch black with only a lil torch and a few s**t spanners i changed the starter motor and put the new 1 in
new 1 is out of an xr8 sprint
and where u slide the thing on it doesnt have 1 of them but instead a thread to bolt it on like the other so i have just run a thick covered wire from it under the car up to the battery

and guess what
vroommmmm
turned the car off and done it 3 times
everytime it startedlike a dreaM

so now all i have to do is run that wire up to the main trigger wireand join them but i was thinking about extending them both into the car and run like a push button starter hehe
what do u reckon?
sounds good to me :P
it should work just by running them both to a switch and then push button presto

sorry ranting on a bit but im in a happy mood now hahaha im sure u can understand y

anyways im out for the night
thanks for all your help folks

cheers to the "FORDMODS" crew

Good to hear that it's starting. I wouldn't worry about a remote starter switch until you've tested it for a while. If the starter proves to be reliable, just use your igntion switch like everyone else.
I know its a pain to get under the car and fit the starter wire but you may not need it anymore (fingers crossed).

If you do go down the remote starter switch path, make sure its a heavy duty switch capable of handling 10-20amps. Also look for a momentary switch (spring loaded to the off position). Insulate and mount everything firmly so nothing will rub thru.
