ok i have a problem it all started witha 4 sped auto going clunk when we slowed down to stop, fixed that prob with replaceing sensors.

Now the sensors heat up as i been told by my mechanic so he has been going over the wireing loom and tells me its got a 6cyl wireing harness in it.

and to top it off the engine number dont match the rego papers, bloody great all i need so i looked at the paperwork given to my by the car yard and find some paperwork for repairs to the car and the name of its last owner and a phone number, so i rang the number and spoke to the dude and he tells me my Tickford XR8 is just a faimont and he added all the bages to it, (my heart droped and i felt upset thinking i had a real XR8).

So he goes on to tell me the motor in it has only done 20,000kms and he put it in there and that it is a 200kw sprint motor out of an XR8.

so now i need to know if anyone knows do i need a sprint ECU or will my one in the fairmont be ok to use, and the fairmont has always been a v8.

As my mechanic thinks i have a ecu problem and he has got hold of a test ECU to see if my ecu has a problem.

why not test the existing ecu, Diagnosis ..
6 cyl harness ??
what is on compliance plate ,, eg Eng z=v8
sunroof , ford?
this is interesting

eb 11 .. Xr8 , still stock 5l..
tickford never touched the 5l till EBgt - Ed Sprint etc ..

would be interested to know if this refit Sprint motor is genuine ,,
also if the car has been running okay , powerwise .
safe bet the Ecu is compatible//

waiting on a test ecu to see if all is ok, the motor runs fine its got a prob with voltages to the sensors being too high.

The last owner told me 2 days go he put the Sprint motor in himself it came out of a ED Sprint rightoff, as it was cheaper to by the wreak and use the low kms motor than to get his one rebuilt.

Good thing is the yard i got the car from is going to give me the Blue slip as the motor was not changed over on the rego papers.

ive just had the front end totaly rebuilt new everything even rotors rubbers and ball joints and bearings bushs the lot.

This thing does 2nd gear cherps and gets a bit sideways if you dont control it, only thing i dont like is the loud sound form the cluch fan when you put the boot into it, looking at doing the EL twin fan mod.

The electric sunroof looks factory but look at all the papwer work from its history shows its an after market one but it works well and looks good.

This EB is a EBII and im sure they did with the EBII (tictford)
what i read about it EBII has the 165kw mustang motor in it.

But i know now my one is just a fairmont not a XR8 nor is it a tickford

But its great to dive makes a senator 5.7L dunnydoor I195 look bad when the lights go green and all i see is it way back in my rear view mirror getting smaller and smaller, god i love seeing that lol. sorry i hate holdens more of a Mopar fan but ford is just as good in my books.

Looks like you have a bit of a beast for an EB ..lucky for the Sprint motor//
Good one , i think the factory sunroof was a ticky ..

I have an EB11 Ghia . V8 Black , Tickford Suspension , sunroof .
Ticky sticker in boot , and original Flying T emlems . it wears them with pride...165Kw H0 motor.
But Engines of Tickord enhanced were code J , On plate , have a ford letter that states it .none in Eb , Except GT..

Per...

[We have forwarded a corrected verification letter to you on the 30th of January, 2007. The correct engine code for your vehicle is Z, as engine code J only applied to the EB Falcon GT.

We trust this clarifies the matter and apologise for any inconvenience.

Mate I can tell by the pic in your gallery that you don't have a sprint 5L just a normal HO

I can also tell you are running a 5L engine harness, if you weren't your car wouldn't start any way

Also, you car does look like a factory 5L, because all your EGR gear is in place and you have a green master cylinder, only fitted to V8 models
