hey fellas, i just put in a new sports dash a little while back and to my horror i have very bad oil pressure *sigh* time to start replacing stuff i guess, so with that in mind i was thinking that aswell as replacing the usawell bearings and gaskets i was also thinking of buying an off the shelf cam from crow cams (valve timing: IN.24/66 EX.62/20 DUR:270 263 .75DUR: 210 200 Valve lift: .528" .500") and giving the head a mild working say like shaving 40thou off it and porting the intake and exhaust by 30thou.

would the standard computer from my good ol CPI be able to handle that or should i wait and save a bit longer to buy an arftermarket computer?

cheers

What do you call bad oil pressure? Mine sits between 1 and 2 bar i think? So between the second and third lines.

the computer should be able to take it... although, it may restrict it.... getting an aftermarket computer would be the cream on top of the cake really, letting the engine perform to the best of its ability...

agreed with the above normality. Mine sits just above the first bar at idle.. and it idles at around 500.

Normally oil pressure issues come from the sensor.. if you are afraid that your car is dying, then do a dry and wet compression test.

As for the stock ECU, it'll run, the cams not too big, but might have a bit of a lumpy idle. With those mods, I think an aftermarket computer would be well worthwhile.

Cheers

My ef's oil pressure often gets right up to the top, 7bar or whater the orange area is and vertually never goes below half. Is this bad? Will high oil pressure cause any problems?
