ok, im going bbm soon, and im trying to find an ecu. so im just wondering if the el and ef manual ecu's are the same?

depends - wreckers sell EL XR6 ECU's (when avail!) for ~$250 or so

You'll probably find an EL auto ECU easiest and cheapest to find - you can do the resistor mod - search for the couple of threads on this.

Hopefully your EBII already has smartlock.

yes, lucky for me, smart lock indeed.

ok, gonna start looking in u-pull-it every now and then, so could someone just tell m exactly what i 'pull' whe im grabbing the ecu?

Obviously the ECU, but you will need to insert a pin 15 into the EBII connector to run the vacuum switching valve (VSV) for the BBM, so grab an EL connector if you can, and pull the pins - you'll see the inside of the connector has a coloured insert, carefully prise it out (which isn't hard)and the pins with wiring can be extracted. Since you'll need to run a wire through the firewall near the heater hose outlets, you can run 2 more wires as spares, just in case you want to run thermo fans later on.
