I ordered the MSPKIT-V3 a while back, and today I recieved a package.. I opened it, and I found the version 3 PCB, and in a seperate box a map sensor, and a MSII daughter card...Great... yeah, just strange.

Now that I got my megasquirt, I can start asking questions.

Has anyone ordered all the electronics from jaycar? or any other australian company? digikey isn't for me... I did my research, and found all the parts I could but this is what I couldn't find..

C16,C17 Basic Components Capacitor TANT 22µF 25V 10% RAD
C24 Basic Components Capacitor 47PF 200V 5% CER RADIAL
C25 Basic Components Capacitor 22PF 200V 5% CER RADIAL
C5,C7 Basic Components Capacitor 1.0µF 50V 10% CER RADIAL - X7R
MOV1 Basic Components Surge absorber 20MM 22V 2000A ZNR
Q1,Q5 Spares HEX/MOSFET N-CH 60V 20A TO-220FP
Q16 High-Current Ignition Driver IC DRIVER 340V 7.5A ISOWATT220
Q2,Q4 Basic Components Transistor NPN 45V 1000MA TO-92
Q22,Q23 VR Sensor Transistor PNP 100V 1000MA TO-92
Q3,Q11 Basic Components Transistor PNP 6A 100V HI PWR TO220AB
Q6,Q7,Q8,Q10,Q13,
Q14,Q15,Q19,Q20 Basic Components Transistor NPN SS GP 200MA TO-92

Maybe I just missed some in the catalogue or whatever... but I couldn't find the above.

Any help with where these could be located would be great, thanks!

Cheers!

I think without a lot of running around you should be able to find everything at Farnell try here... http://au.farnell.com/jsp/home/homepage.jsp

Jaycar lost my order for LEDs and refused to refund me the money (was paid by credit car) and then just ignored me.

Caps are nothing special - any elec shop should have 'em
Q2,Q4, Q6,Q7,Q8,Q10,Q13,Q14,Q15,Q19,Q20 can be substituted with any equivalent (in most cases close enough is good enough

You might need to get the rest from the US or pay outrageous prices from Farnell

For other potential MSers out there:

I ordered my kit (without case) from Glenns Garage. His packaging is AWESOME. Every part is labelled in it's own bag (bit over the top really)
I was going to get my parts locally but decided it was too hard and some of the parts too hard to find.

hmm.. with the caps, the 22uF caps are all 16V from jaycar, and DSE afaik. might have to just use 16V, they shouldn't be seeing any more than that anyway...

The variastor (MOV1) is getting difficult to find, farnell been the only place.
hmm.. I think its still ending up cheaper than the states.

Cheers

Ok, Ive found most things... MOV1 is still only available from Farnell as far as I can tell. And 1/8th watt resistors aren't available from Jaycar, or DSE so might have to go with 1/4 watt resistors for that.

25V caps which aren't available (22uF for example) will be replaced with 16V, and if they blow, Ill rig them up with two, so that I get a total of 32V tolarence.

Cheers

radio parts? connectors aren't a problem. So far Ive got everything, BUT a MOSFET Driver LS 4A DUAL 8DIP. I can't find a replacement for the IXDI404. ANd we all know how useful Jaycar customer care can be.

I also need basically everything for the High ignition driving circuit.

Another good place I found (was pointed to it by a Jaycar representitive) is RS Components. http://www.rsaustralia.com.

Cheers

an aftermarket ECU is always good, as long as its tuned properly... It will allow for greater expandibility. For things such as cams, to even the idle out, bigger injectors, well all of the stock ECU limits.

Cheers

Also not to hijack the thread, But I have been watching the megasquirt idea for a while. If I was to order one, what should I be ordering, and from where? does anyone have any base maps to get me started? (i6 EL)

can't help with the base maps. (yet).
go to http://www.megasquirt.info/. From there, on the left click on introduction and ordering.

You will need a partial kit, depending on your needs. You can get a MSII or an MSI, with a V2.2 board or the V3 board. The partial kit, is just that, a partial kit. It will give you a processor, a map sensor, and a pcb. All the electronical components need to be ordered/bought seperately. You can also order just the PCB and try and source the parts yourself... the processor is pretty hard to get in this country... along with the map sensor...and expensive. After you order it, print the order page, after the confirmation page.

Go to the post office, and tell them you want to send an international money order, fill out details, grab an international air mail envelope ($2), and place the money order in there, along with the printed order form.

So you so far pay for the money order ($8.50 or something), envelope with stamp ($2), and then whatever you are buying. They convert the US amount into AUD when you are there..

After a while, you recieve a package, with the stuff in it.

If you want to order all the electronic componenets straight away, there will be a digikey BOM, and just choose what features you want (IGBT, relayboard, stim, etc...), it will should a price.. and then you order that aswell.

Or you can do what I did, Ive got a list compiled with all the part numbers you need to get the parts from jaycar. For all the parts for 2 megasquirts that Im building (MSI and MSII), it was $110 or a bit more.. Im still to locate U4, but that shouldn't be too bad... Im sure RS Components should have it. If not, meh. Ill find a substitution.

Cheers
