Interesting setup wondering if there is anything that I need to know. This is what I have,
NA series 2 SVO fairlane
EB2 GLI with EF motor using EL ex cop computer.

I want to put the EF motor into the NA and it currently has a log manifold on gas.

I want smartlock and I will take the smartlock module and ignition barrel out of my EB and whatever wiring that I need. The mixer for the gas is currently sitting in front of the log manifold, I will move this to the front of the broadband manifold. I will not run it on gas until i get it checked by a pro.

Questions:
Will I still have all of my options that the fairlane sport (windows, climate, trip etc).
Do I need to get a gas certificate after changing the engine?
Will the smartlock conversion work as I have expected?

your climate control and stuff will work i dont see why not but itll be at different pins you mite want to pickup a different computer probably out of a fairmont ghia? with all of that stuff in it... also the ex cop computers arent anythin special? they are stock ? my mate bought a ex cop car and we ran it on a dyno to show because it had beign thrashed it had less kw then a normal car.... think it was a vt ss or something

yeah kostah is right you will need the BEM from a fairmont ghia, but you might need to do some wireing.

look in the technical documents section on the different BEM's and what features they have. i printed out a copy last night. its a good read.

you will need to swap the loom from your EB II into the fairlane. possibly might have to extend the rear section and modify the boot loom. unless the plugs match up at the front of the car.

altho i asume fairmont/ghias and fairlanes have the same looms.

Thanks for the advice guys, if its that much effort just to keep smartlock i think i might get rid of it. I will keep the NA BEM and put in my EF computer with a smartlock bypass.
