Hi Guys,

Can you please confirm if the following part no's are for an EF Tickford 6 cyl Auto ECU?

4TBD (large lettering above bar code sticker)
94DT-12A650-BD (bottom left of bar code sticker)

Please let me know ASAP, as I am about to whack it into my EF GLi !!!!

Cheers.

Thanks mate!

Yep, label is correct ...I was told that the ECU came out of an EF Fairmont Ghia, that had a Tickford engine ...does that sound right?

Then, would this ECU be equivalent to the EF XR6 ECU?

About to slap it in the EF GLi now ...best to disconnect battery while I do this?

The fuel and spark maps will be XR6 like, but the shifting paterns will be Fairmont Ghia luxury..

Fairmont Ghia luxury shift patterns eh? ...is that a good or bad thing?

i.e. will it shift quicker or slower?

Only one way to find out, I suppose!

If you hear a bang from the NE suburbs ...you'll know that's me!

Same as GLi, maybe a tad smoother and earlier changes

That sounds perfect!

Just chucking it in to see if it makes any difference to the running & driveability of the GLi.

My bro' is now considering buying my EF, as I am getting an EL XR6.

Lol, he drives a clapped-out VN Commonwhore with a DIY matte Black spraycan paintjob ...gotta be a step up for sure! :P

Pretty straight forward. T signifies tickford, eg XR in this case F signifies exact type of engine/trans it suits, last letter is version. eg .... 12A650FB is later version than ... 12A650FA but suit same driveline setup first numbers design year.. 94 suits EF 96 suits EL etc and 12A650 is basic part No for ECU. In this case 4TFA is just shortened code to give Basic details.. eg Ef, Tickford F for Driveline spec and A for version 1..
