Cheers guys for all ther replies.

Just went out side again and got someone to turn the key to on for me a couple of times. Had a good listen and theres no humming now. Just a couple of clicks and thats it. So im assuming that the pump is now F**k.

Is replacing the pump something that a noob like me would be able to tackle.

Cheers.

I looked at my book does'nt say how to disconnect the fuel lines, i would have thought that there was O-rings that hold the lines on, then you could unscrew them and just pull them off, i can't really help at the moment, have a look at the situation and i'm sure you'll work it out, if it was difficult my book would mention hows it done but they left it out so you must be able to work it out.

a f**k pump should still make a sound, where are the clicks comming from the pump? or the relay at the front of the car?

runnin out of fuel is bad, the fuel almost keeps the fuel pump lubed up, so when its out, it runs dry .... this is a common fault for them ...

A seized pump will not make any sound but the relay in the engine bay will click on when you turn the key to on then click off about 4 seconds later if there are no ignition pulses (ie the car fails to start)

You should put something CLEAN in your fuel lines and tank pipes to block them. More crud will definately NOT help your situation. It's also worth while removing the fuel pump relay or fuse - could avert a nasty high pressure fuel incident

Hi mate.

the hoses come together like a clipped arrangement.

pull the round sleeve towards you and the fuel pipe will separate.

sometimes a bugger but eventually it will unclip.
