Hello all , i have fitted a BA2 XR6 Turbo engine , firewall and complete dash from an 05 ute into an f250 ford cab that sits on a GU Nissan Patrol 4X4 chassis and running gear . Everything works as per the donor car except for the fact that the Nissan driveline does not have ABS . I have modified a non ABS Hall Effect gearbox sender to give me the speed pulse and the speedo works fine but because the EEC is not getting a signal from the wheels the cruise control flares as the EEC searches for a signal . My question is , can the ABS be disabled in the EEC ? If not was there a Manual Turbo XR6 without ABS that i can use the EEC from ? Or can i fit a resistor to the ABS wires to trick the EEC ? Also because i do not have Pyro seat belts the air bag light is flashing a code , can this function also be disabled ? Thanks .
On edit , i thought the pics would come out as thumbnails , sorry for the size .

I don't know anything about the BA ECU's but you could try feeding your speed signal into the four wheel speed inputs (assuming the ecu has four wheel inputs and they are Hall effect inputs). That way the ecu would think all four wheels are travelling and the same speed.

Nice looking ute by the way :D !

Thank's , it has 4 inputs and yes it is a Hall Effects signal . Would that gadget you mentioned be available from Jaycar or someone ?

No Gadget required. You should be able to just split the speed signal to the four inputs. Assuming all the hall sensors normally have the same voltage output (either 5V square wave or 12V square wave). In other words just connect all the speed inputs together and connect them to the sensor in the gearbox.

The only problem will be if the ecu expects a different speed from the wheels compared to the output of the Gearbox.

Replaced the WDS - World Diagnostic System & the PDS was the Palm pilot version they ran.
Ford workshops all have to have the WDS to run diagnostics and set up falcons, reprogram bcm's etc

No , i had the 6.0ltr Powerstroke V8 engine for sale after i decided not to use it and used the picture with the 'F' truck behind it as it was the only one i had . You would'nt believe how many guy's tried to buy the truck off me after seeing the picture , one guy said name your price  .

The diagnostic plug is as the stock Ford ute is and can simply be accessed the same way . Are you guys saying that a scantool can turn off the ABS function ? I'm also in trouble with the .80 overdrive in the gearbox . The cruise control will SET in 3rd and direct but wont SET in overdrive as the speed pulse and engine RPM's are not what they should be in the mind of the ECU . Which may be a problem with what devojet was thinking .

For more photos of the truck i have started a thread in the garage . Thank's for your input and interest .

If you can get the ABS turned off that would be a much better option. I think the trouble is these ECU's are getting too smart.

Has your speedo been calibrated? Does it show the correct speed? I assume you are using a nissan 4x4 gearbox.

No it has'nt been calibrated yet , but i think it will still have the same problem as the different overdrive ratio/engine revs will not corralate with the parameters set in the EEC . What it needs (in theory) i believe is for the EEC to be programed for the .80 overdrive and also delete the ABS function . But i'm pretty sure that as a design fault the EEC cannot be reprogramed for a change of diff ratio or tyre size . Can someone tell me if that is still the case ?

It would probably be best to talk to someone who can do flash tunes and see what they can change. I know with holden LS1 ECUs you can change everything including diff ratios etc.

using the ford scantool you can set custom diff/tyre sizes, change the speed sensor input from ABS to a speedo transducer and alot more.

best bet is probably as has been said find someone with access to a scantool and see how you go.
