... I filled up at the Punt Rd servo (the one near the city-link). I noticed a bit of a difference, but I'm only on a stock 6 .. still felt better though. :)

... I'm not sure if it's worth it, and I dont nessasarily trust Shell yet, so I might alternate between Extreme and Ultimate (when they get it pumping again).

Can I ask why some people are against ehtanol ?

I'm assuming it burns differently ? hotter ? slower ? faster ? <shrug> ... if it's cleaner than less deposits should be a good thing for the engine yeah ?

I wouldnt put it down to petrol, more the fact you ran it so bloody empty HAHA!

Is there a list of locations of this fuel, one of my local shells doesnt have it yet and am yet to try the other.
Im in SE melb.

could also have been the ecu and map sensors adjusting to the higher octane of the fuel, as its a richer mix, so you get backfiring and what not while it was adjusting, and u would have felt it more because the fuel was straight, ie not blended with any other left over unleaded in the tank.

More likely he sucked up s**t from the bottom of the tank from running it so low!

Here's a lesson for the kids at home:
petrol is cheaper than fuel pumps!

I learned this lesson a few years back - TWICE

This is an indication that ignition advance could be increased ;)

my dad uses avgas in his xw. smells good. but it shouldnt be use in a moden car with a cat it will reck it. if u want to find out anything about the fuels u can buy and wats in them and why they are difrent just ring the bp fuel cemist, they carnt lie. my dad usto use shell r100 then he rang up the cemist and they said r100 is un used avgas, just more expencive because it had racefuel writen on the side!!

Well my local 7/11 sells ethanol fuel & I tried $10 and WTF you do get more Kph but I buy a mix of $15 either mobil or BP premium & $10 ethanol and theres the peformance so why pay shell for FUEL that burns fast.
Both myself and 4 other ford owners agree shell burns quicker then Mobil/BP/caltex.
