Can I ask why some people are against ehtanol ?

I'm assuming it burns differently ? hotter ? slower ? faster ? <shrug> ... if it's cleaner than less deposits should be a good thing for the engine yeah ?

Alcohol based fuels were thought to be corrosive in some instances. But its only a myth. Only the drag guys that run methanol suffer fuel related corrosion. After every meet they clean their fuel lines out otherwise they get a white chalky residue. Ethanol is no where near as corrosive as that. A road car can be easilly made to run on E85 (85%ehtanol and 15%petrol) with only timing changes.

just a word of warning, i found on the net (dont have link, but search for it on google) ford have said that they can only garuntee that AU onwards will be fine for running ethanol fuels.

And anything before that they would not say one way or another whether it was safe to run the fuel on

A lot of country servos usually have gas that is more propane than anything else in the city and that's the stuff you want.
