I just find it weird that you're effectively saying cold air intakes are a waste of time. It's not as though cai's are better 'because we say so'. Why don't you take the advice given to you by people that know more than yourself?

For all those considering adding a CAI...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCi2yo4UqPI

Food for thought.

MY AUD$0.02

Since my BA has a fly-by-wire throttle, and variable cams....
The amount of air and fuel entering the engine is completely out of my control....
I can only ask it nicely by shoving my right blunnie on the loud pedal.....
It wouldn't matter if i replaced the intake pipe with a 30cm refrigerated pipe....
in stock trim, the computer will only allow as much fuel and air in as it needs
for a particular "torque request"

At low RPM and pootling around, the computer tells the throttle body
to keep its mouth relatively shut - even a small pipe would flow enough air....

At high RPM and getting right up it - the computer tells the throttle to
rip itself open.....in this case a large pipe may provide less restriction....
but not unless the engine and computer has some serious mods to warrant needing the extra air to
let all that extra power unleash....
(i like to think Ford Australia probably got this right, and also why the turbos have a second intake port)

As to having a "cold" air intake......(as the french soldier said to king arthur)
"we already got one"
The stock intake routes air from outside the engine bay as it is....

BTW - no disrespect to some of the modders who have shown their efforts -
some of them are very inventive, and downright pretty.
If you drop a few 1/100ths down the quarter....good for you!

if by 2nd intake port you mean the extra runner on the BBM manifolds in the BA/BF? ford made them to give extra torque at higher RPM, ford just for lazy with the BA/F and just removed the butterflies

as for dropping a few 10ths of a second, that could determine if you win or loose a race (which is the reason you mod cars in the first place)

3.5" joiner (or 3.5" to 3" reducer if you are using 3" piping) is an easy fit over the throttlebody.

A 3" joiner (especially a re-inforced multi-ply joiner) does fit but requires a hell of a lot of stretching for it to slip over and is pretty annoying to do so.

Thanks. That's what I thought. Just finding it hard to find the 3.5 to 3 inch. Will have to heat it up and stretch it on
Thanks again

3.25 is the perfect fitment for the intake. but you can make a 3" fit. some brands stretch more then others. the more ply usually the harder it is to stretch.

Recent shot of the intake on my EF. Just a EF/EL tickford snorkel into a BA XR8/GT pod box then 3" piping to TB.

This is my Intake, just a pod in the box, Went for a Growler look. its ok.

Can hear the intake though and feel a difference.

Id like a bigger snorkel and then change to a panel filter and put my other lid back on to look standard.
