galapogos01 wrote: Hmm, a 1:8 reg will be a good bet to get you close to start with, but ideally you will want to be able to tweak this, especially the spark map. As i've said elsehwere on here you will need either the reg or larger injectors - you cant magically get more fuel out of them with the tune, you just get closer to 100% duty cycle. Personally I think im about to buy a set of 36lb injectors off ebay, there are a few people selling sets for <$300. They are EV6 too so should get better atomisation. Jason Cool... I'll get the reg and look for the injectors.. Would also really like a switching chip so I can have a map for both charged on premium and charged on Gas... is that doable? rgds Frank

I think he meant if you have an auto ecu, and have used this chip to convert to a manual ecu after a box conversion. |

And yes data_mine thats what i had ment sorry im abit unclear on things sometimes, as we speak the car is getting manual converted (minus the ecu) and as for my concern about the chip, i have burned so many bins on it there starting to not take (the old red j3 chip) might get a spare chip soon. |

MontGas wrote: i have burned so many bins on it there starting to not take (the old red j3 chip) might get a spare chip soon. This is more than likely just the edge connector on the programmer becoming oxidised. Fix it by installing & removing the chip 10 or 20 times to clean up the contacts. We moved to a cable in newer models to prevent this. The flash roms can take thousands of cycles, no way you will wear it out! MontGas wrote: Anyways back to the ECU maps i do have in my possession a tickford 6TEG gas ecu but am unable to rip it. would be quite happy to throw it your way when i get my car back. would save people triggering spark maps as we can copy the lpg maps over the petrol. I would be able to pull it for you, if you post it out I will send it back to you of course. Send me a PM if you like. Jason

Might have to get the new chip and cable, yeah it take plugging it in a few times to get it to burn. so you'll be able to convert the bin to a use able 64k? |

If you clean the pins on the card well enough, they will stay clean for a few months. You could try a 1200 sandpaper, but be light with it. I still use this method.

Updated a few files on the site, specifically fixed up the 4TAB base bin which had retarded timing in the top end (10deg vs 30deg !) & uploaded a new definition for 6TAB - so anyone tuning an EL Manual bin make sure you use the latest definition.

I recommend the ECU be removed from the car to clean the port properly. Also safe power wise too.

If you clean it with a screwdriver while plugged in you will likely break something.

Hey Galapogos01 - tried emailing you that Photoshop file you wanted, but your email server just throws it back at me as being too damn big (it is over 10mb after all...)

It's easy to split the 256K bins, you can do it with tunerpro. You want bank 2 (counting from 0). Cheers, Jason Much better to use a pencil eraser as the plating on the contacts is quite thin (i'm an electronics techie amongst other things). Most oxidation usually comes off easy enough with a bit of effort. Once a bit shiny then use some isopropyl alchahol (not metho!) to finish cleaning the rubber gunk left by the eraser. In a pinch I use the medical wipe things in foil wrap they use to clean your skin before a needle. Most chemists stock them. Did you manage to get this BIN copied? I am just moving from a EF to an EL and I want the gas bins for a 6TGx series or your mentioned gas 6TEG. Cheers, David Sydney West |

Jason Hi my ute is a non smart lock car it was made in 1993,i have an ecu out of a EB XR6 wagon the catch code is 3DCC it wont start in my ute as this ecu is for a smart lock car,how do i get around this,or is the EF/EL ecu better, thanks. |

Hi, there are two ways of using a Smartlock ECU in a Non Smartlock car.
