Just a few questions..

Does anyone know if the wolf3d v3 can run on the ef coil pack setup?

if not, how hard would it be to convert an ef to dizzy?

the wolf v3 is tuned on an ED with dizzy setup, would this tune work if i converted to dizzy, or is it better retune it to coilpacks if the v3 can run coilpacks?

im abit of a noob when it comes to ignition..

how many coils does the ef have?

this is from a wolf3d v3 manual

6.2 Ignition Outputs
The Wolf3D has 4 ignition outputs. There are many ways to configure these outputs. This is dependant on your specific application.
The following outputs are from the WOLF3D IGN-1 cable, supplied with the WOLF3D.
OUTPUT NAME WOLF3D PINOUT IGN-1 COLOUR
IGN GND 31 BLUE / SHIELD
IGN1 32 RED
IGN2 33 YELLOW
IGN3 34 GREY
IGN4 16 GREEN
TACH. OUT 17 VIOLET

For single coil applications, the four ignition outputs of the Wolf3D will function the same. That is, the four outputs will charge
and fire coils at the same time. To simplify single coil applications, use IGN-1 as the output.
For single coil systems used for piston engines the following outputs are used
from the IGN-1 cable:
IGN GND - ignition ground
IGN1 - to igniter signal

In Distributor mode, all ignition outputs pulse at the same time.
This applies to all piston engine configurations.
For Multi-coil systems the following outputs are used from the IGN-1 cable:

6.2.1 Standard Wolf Rotary Mode
Multi Coil (1 Dual 2 Single)
IGN1 - RED Trailing Coil 1
IGN2 - YELLOW Leading Coil (1 & 2)
IGN3 - GREY Trailing Coil 2
IGN4 - GREEN Not Used

Distributor
IGN1 - RED Not Used
IGN2 - YELLOW Leading Coil (1 & 2)
IGN3 - GREY Not Used
IGN4 - GREEN Trailing Coil (1 & 2)

6.2.2 Piston Engines
Four Cylinder:
IGN1 - 2nd and Opposed
IGN2 - 1st and Opposed
IGN3 - 2nd and Opposed
IGN4 - 1st and Opposed
Six Cylinder:
IGN1 - 2nd and Opposed
IGN2 - 3rd and Opposed
IGN3 - 1st and Opposed

Eight Cylinder:
IGN1 - 2nd and Opposed
IGN2 - 3rd and Opposed
IGN3 - 4th and Opposed
IGN4 - 1st and Opposed

It is important to use only one ignition coil off each ignition igniter.

The EF runs 3 double headed coils. Its called a “wasted sparkâ€￾ setup. So when cylinder 1 fires so does 6, cylinder 2 and 5 together, cylinder 3 and 4 together, and vise versa.

You will need to run a M&W 3 channel igniter http://www.mwignitions.com/
You hock the ignition 1, 2, and 3 Output from the wolf into the M&W igniter, then it has three outputs that you wire up to the coil packs.. Its really quite simple.

The fuel and ignition maps from the ED wont need to be changed to suit a coil pack, but how the ignition and trigger setup is configure will possible need to be changed to suit your setup.

Good luck with it all

would it be more simple to do the above or to convert an EF to dizzy?

just thinking out loud here, cause the system is possibly from an ED turbo, and considering it for my car.

so your saying most likley it will be basically plug and play. (if i work the ignition system out) the compression difference etc wont affect it to much and should be driveable.?

**edit

1 more question.

the setup is tuned for 10psi? i think. due to the ef slightly higher compression, i only plan to run maybe 7-8psi. does this require a retune or just a new wastegate spring?
