Hey not sure if this is supposed to go here but here it goes anyhow.
I am restoring a 64 XM falcon and am planning to put a 250 2V motor in her. The standard XM fuel tank was 11.7 gallons (approx 54L). At a consumption rate of 18 miles to the gallon i'd only get 210 miles (335km)to the tank. Pretty annoying filling up 3 or 4 times when i drive from Sydney, home to the Sunny Coast. I am entertaining the idea of putting a 20 gallon (80L) drop tank of sorts in the back of it. Can anyone see any dramas with taking the bad boy out, cutting the middle out of it and adding a few inches to it. its a metal tank and everthing else would remain as it is (filler neck, breather pipe and sender unit). What are the legal implications of doing this from an engineering side of things?? Any at all?? Any help would be appreciated
Cheers Ben
