Hello guys,

Basically, Ive just bought an EB xr6 ecu "yet to pick it up and pay for it" for my EB.

Im running a stock 4litre EBII with a lukey 2.5 catback.

what advantages will the ECU give me, will it work with my car, or do I need to buy something else to get it to work, will it increase performance, if so, by how much, will it increase my KW, if so, by roughly how much etc.

basically I want to know what it will do for my ride. I asked a few other people and they said it will give it some more grunt, but I am not sure.

thanks guys, Im kinda new to this, but I saw it as a cheap upgrade for my car.

I appreciate your help,

- Ryan.

The XR6 ECU is designed to be used with the XR6 fuel reg which runs at a higher pressure than the stock reg. Therefore if you only fit the computer without the reg than your motor may end up running leaner. On the plus side of the XR6 ecu. As the XR6's have a bigger cam than a stockie, and run a higher fuel pressure, they can run a bigger cam than the stock computer would before it maxes out the injectors.
Is your EB an auto or manual?
Is the XR computer auto or manual?
Are you getting the fuel reg with the computer?

XR computers are just a standard computer tuned for an XR6 engine. Unless you have an XR6 spec engine and have no plans for further mods your better of putting your money towards getting your ecu retuned for the engine you have.

Here's another XR ECU question -

It's probably been said a million times before but I can't find it anywhere. I'm wondering how to tell if I've got an XR ECU or an EFII Ghia for my EF Fairy. uglybob gave it to me and I'm curious as to why it was still speed limited, as I'm told the XR ecu's dont have a limiter.
Are there numbers printed/stamped on it somewhere that I can check to see if it's XR or not?

Cheers
-Jais

Thanks mate, I saw data_mine's tailshaft incident... looks f-n nasty!
The speed limiter doesn't really bother me greatly hey, and I don't want the xr ecu because of that, I was just under the impression that they weren't limited so I thought I might've got the wrong one. I'm still not sure if I have the right one or not, pretty sure uglybob would know which is which... but I'm still chasing the catch codes for the EF auto version so I can check anyway.
I tried doing a search and it came up with 200-odd pages of hits so thought this might've been a quicker way to get hold of them.

That's cool bignik. I'm aiming at getting it as a tough streeter, but also trying to keep it a bit of a sleeper at the same time. Aiming to hit the 12sec bracket after a few mods such as blueprinting/balancing it all then beef up the auto, get a hi-stall and then blow it. If I'm not happy then might add some laughing gas but we'll see what happens haha.
Thanks for the info too, hadn't thought of going to see Fraud because they'll probably find something to charge me for...
