The ecu does not run climate control and that, EL Ghia ECU's control the speed sensitive power steering but other than that, there is no difference between fairmont and gli ecu's

does the xr6 ecus have a diffrent tune than the standard ecus wether ed or el.

how will you get a el fairmont ghia or xr6 ecu to work in a ed 6 cyl fairmont without adding bbm and thermo fans

Yes, both ED AND EL XR6 ECU's contain different tunes to GLi's etc

Contact TI Performance

Tell them what you want... they can untune the BBM out of the EL ECU (as thats what I'm getting done to mine)

the link is here:

Fairmonts usually have the tickford motor don't they??? :S The ECU only controls the motor... None of the electronics... and thermofans doesn't matter... The ECU will trigger the outputs but the mechanical hub fan will just do its job...

can you just short the 2 bbm manifold pins together to permantly switch it to short runners to suit the log manifold and is there another way to get the ed trip computer wor with the el fairmont ghia ecu or el xr6 ecu

don't know about the trip computer as i don't have one and aren't interested in them...

The EEC-V switches the BBM on... the map readings wouldn't change... It has to be re-written in the tune in the PCM...

I really don't think you'll find a cheap way of getting out of it... All for what really wont give you much more performance... be better to just be a regrind cam and get that fitted...

On ED falcons there is 10 or 15 kw difference between the standard and XR6 motors...

This 10 or 15 kw is made up in the following locations...

*Higher compression ratio
*Hotter Plugs
*Different Head
*Different Head
*Different Tuned EEC-IV

All these things make 10 or 15kw...

So the computer without the rest of these things might make 2 or 3 kw at the flywheel??? Hardly noticeable in terms of driving...

Cheers,
Tim

will the el xr6 computer or fairmont ghia computer work as a ed one if the bbm pins are shorted together to switch it permantly to short runners to suit the ed manifolds just a idea

like i tried to explain... trying not to be too confusing...

the pins in the computer are outputs to the BBM... not inputs from it... shorting them out with not change the computer... all it does at 3800rpm it earths out 1 pin and and that trggiers a solenoid which vacuum operates the BBM...

Shorting it to earth does nothing...

There is nothing else to short out in this sense...

So the PCM will still read the wrong pressures... with the BBM output pin is earthed out of not... It needs to be re-tuned...

it dont work like that.
if you short the pins out you will burn the bbm curcuit out.
you can fit the el ecu and not add the bbm wires..it will work but without the bbm the car will feel week/less torque under 3800rpm.
as i think it has been mentioned to you on a few occasions already.
the el ecu has the fuel and timing maps to suit the bbm..
so to get the real gains you need both the ecu and the manifold.
otherwise best to just stick with the ed ecu and log manifold..
