LOL s**t dude.. i thought my car was loud on about 142db.. looks like im ready for take off aswell..
i have had people say that when i drop it back and stand on it next to them the initial load up hurts there ears..
and for the people that have heard my car its bloody insane..
only difference is my 142db is at 3200rpm or so and then it goes quieter further up the rev range..

thats what you get with 3inch mandrel exhaust pipe and 1 very small muffler..

top fuel dragsters are 140db for ther crowd in the stands, lol so i diont think you ba would be 60 times more intense (6db) then a top fuellers.

I'd be careful around town now, if the Sargeant or whoever it was that is p****d off cause he was in the wrong, is out and about. Cause you can bet your family jewels onit, that he will want to rape you when he sees you next!

decibels are a logerithm, 6db does not mean 60 times as loud.

If top fuel dragsters were 140dB in the stands it would make peoples ears bleed, 120dB is the human threshold

i didnt say loud i said intense, as in waves/meter sqaured, 1db is 10 times more intense then db before. 120db is the level were damage is done to the ear but it is possible to listen to louder without becoming deaf. Like in spl comps you are allowed to sit in your car up to 140 or so db

Some people.........

NOT ONE PERSONS CAR HERE WOULD BE 146db.

120dbA is the threshold of pain, but only at certain frequencies. (usualy measured arround 1.2khz)

140dbA can be tollertaed if at the correct levels. Many car audio systems are 140dbA, however they are this level arround the 40-90hz range, where the human ear has lots of attenuation.

Going up 10db is not 100% louder.
or
going up 1db is not 10x more intense

3dbA increase = 2x the sound level intensity.
6dbA increase = 4x sound intensity level
9dbA increase = 8x sound intensity level

etc etc
