Hey guys I've been looking around for a good Cam for my EL XR6 for a while now that offers better acceleration at lower rpms.

As I have been reading more and more about cams for EL 6cyls, I found the 1636 Wade came is one of the few cams that offers better low range power and actually gets you off the line quicker.

Is this correct?

If I was to get this installed I would need shims, I wouldnt need a modified ECU and I can use my std Auto, Is this correct as well?

and can someone tell me about the fuel economy using this cam?

cheers

Stock ecu is fine , definatly need shims, just a set of standard el shims. 2 in each rocker. Make sure u put them in the right way up other wise the HLA wont pump up.just take note of when u take them out. On one side there will be 3 lines like a triangle on the other side there is one line, I forget which side should face inside the rocker.
If it's down low torque ur after I'd say 1636 is the go. Fuel economy won't change too much

Yep, pretty much as said above. The shims go in with the side with the 3 grooves facing down towards the valves. Should be able to get the shims from Ford, std 1.9mm thickness, 11mm outside diameter are the ones you'll be after.

ok as good as I am with my hands, I do not feel that I can install this myself. Since Wade cams is located about 20mins away from me, Ill ask them if they can do it for me. Do you know how much it would be to install it?

Wade build camshafts, not install them. I doubt that they will do it for you.
For the shims go to pick-a-part or similar. If the shims fell in to your toolbox while getting something else, you would have to fish the tiny little things out to pay for them.
I've just bought a 1673 of wade and will install it tomorrow (maybe).
I think if you want that jump of the line you need a lower ratio diff, not a cam.
