hi, lately when i stsrt my car,it revs to around 1500rpm for about 3 seconds then back down to idle and during this time sounds like its getting hurt would like to rectify it any ideas would be great thanks 1994 ed xr6

most e series from eb2 onwards do it,,you can't change it so you have to put up with it.

1500rpm isn't too bad. Sometimes my parents ef goes to 2k then down to idle. |

I have owned an EB falcon and now an EL falcon and they never would rev up to 1500rpm on a cold start up. There is a problem. Some things i would try; Check your fault codes first, to see if the ECU has found anything wierd. Reset your ECU and clean your ISC valve. Cheers...

well if you read my post properly i said most do it,,i have a 4 litre motor in my ea,,with the 4 litre ecu it revs up over 1000 rpm every time i start it,,with the 3.9 ecu it doesnt do it. and I've tried four different ecu's with the same result. they all revved over 1000 rpm on every start.
my bro in-law has a ef and it revs on every start,,most on here will have the same thing,,its normal and there is nothing wrong with the car.

Yeah but if you read the first post he says "Lately" the car has been reving up to 1500rpm which means only recently. 1 month ago it probably started at under 1000rpm which means in this time something has caused it to do this. So there should be a fault somewhere.

every time i start mine it flares up to 2000 then drops to 400 where the isc catches it and idles back at 800.
done it ever since ive owned the car, part of falcon life... but seeing the girly arument above, pointing out this is recent, have you reset the base idle etc? |
