Well - after much deliberation and research I have given up on the idea of an engine/driveline swap.
Apart from the time and complications, the legalities would have been an issue, as would insurance.

So I have opted to do some mods to my NA XR6. Here's the list, in combustion flow order;

- K & N Panel filter (I already have the XR8 large intake and Typhoon lower CAI)
- Ceramic coated Pacemaker 4490 extractors
- New sparkplugs (don't think I have had new ones since new - that's 135,000)
- Magnaflow 3.5" high flow Cat
- Full stainless steel system ( not sure if it will be 2.5" or 3")
- Custom dyno tune to maximise all the benefits of the above

It's booked in for Wednesday to get the above done.....can't wait !

What are the flywheel and RW KW ratings for a stock BA mk2 XR6?

Here's a game - like a guess the date/weight competition. Cloesest wins the glory.

Based on people's experience, what do you think my flywheel KW and RWKW will be based on the above?

good mods to free up the BARRA engine!...

stock 182 engine KW RWKW = rougly 130-135RWKW or there abouts..

fly wheel kw should jump to 215-220 engine KW.. RWKW around 167.910RWKW

167.910, that is very precise, a mate of mine has done all these things but with a glowler intake and got about 180rwkw so my guess would be 172.560 while were at 3 decimal points... but we don't really need the 0 on the end.

Mind me asking why a 3.5" cat? That is huge...usually if anything I would undersize a cat compared to the rest of the exhaust.

Also how do you find the xr8 brake set up? It's the 322mm x 28 rotor size isn't it? Thanks

are you tripping? why would you restrict the exhaust at the cat? its already a restriction!

id be going the 3" system, with a 4.5" or 5" body 100cpi cat

2.5" is better suited to the average e-series cars which max out at about 150rwkw, these DOHC VCT motors breath MUCH better... 3" exhausts have been proven on these motors...

Nope.

Are you talking body or pipe size? With a high flow cat such as 100cpi you really shouldn't have to go bigger sizes as you will find any benefit from increased flow will be offset by the fact you are slowing down and reaccelerating heavier gasses. It isn't about 'restricting', it is about inertia and mass of exhaust gasses.

I don't know what CPI the cat will be - bt isn't 100CPI illegal? I doubt they would be supplying that - I really don't know.

I guess I'd be happy with 175rwkw - would like 180 though.

Time will tell - Wednesday can't come soon enough !!!! :)

any high flow cat is illegal, if ts 100 or 200 cpi, its still less than the 400cpi that came on the car...

the poorer flowing cats are the ones with a sudden sharp taper to the body, the longer the transition to the body the better

Disappointed....
Only managed 156.8 rwkw

Coil packs were starting to break down - tuner said if they were fine I could have got an extra 5kw peak?

Even that would have only been 161.8 rwkw

I'm rather disappointed in the numbers but the car drives well, so I should probably not be too fixated on them. Driving along, the instantaneous fuel use gauge reads a lot less litres/100km so the AFR mapping has been done well. He did say the tune was an optimum fuel tune - not a max power type tune

Polished extractors look nice- will take a pic on the weekend

Not sure why you are disappointed with that,
Basically all youve got is an exhaust (and a tune) id be happy with 157 rwkw/161rwkw on a stock xr6 thats a pretty decent result.

you have a decent result there for an economy tune

if your comparing your results to some of the results seen in FGs lately then dont... they have better manifolds, higher comp, different cams, etc

I think I had unrealistically high expectations perhaps.

Exhaust has a bit of a drone to it - not as sporty sounding as I was hoping for.
I think I've been listening to too many V8's :)

I believe it is a 3" - wasn't documented but I'm pretty sure based on cat description ' 3.5" body with 3" spigots ' that it must be
