I have the same problem with my ED I6-
After changing thermostat/ map sensor/02 sensor/plugs/filters/leads..still no change..
A ford tech said see what temp the car runs at,if below 1/2 all the time then the temp sensor is buggered or thermostat..Failing that then the charcol canistor is the problem(so he said)

wow, the stroker engine in my EF gets 470kms per a tank. If a 6 Pot only gets 270Km something must be up if you ask me... my dad's 96 EL Futura gets over 550km...

maybe you have a leak somewhere even? As the afore mentione futura spewed fuel over the top of the tank when full as a result of a failed pump seal.

City Driving or Country (like a straght no stop trip a full tank will go around 480 ish Kms (for my car EB 3.9) 550 on a good trip (no strong winds))

all depends on ya driving style habbits route ya take wheater etc etc..

What is your car running like at the moment? are you going off the odometer or trip computer.. was it really a full tank?

Well there's your problem right there! My XH 4.0 will get 600k's to a tank full on highway trips, cruising at $120 all day down the pac hwy. But i too work only 4 k's from home, and I go home for lunch, so with all the stop-light drags and short stop-start traffic, I only get around 280-300 k's from a tank. I know I could do better if I drove it better, but that is no fun! When I worked 25k's from home I would get around 450k's to a tank, with a bit of hwy and a bit of traffic.
I reckon you may need to look at the way your driving the thing, and get that busted-a*** auto fixed asap. Also, try taking it for a nice long hwy CRUISE every couple of weeks, it will do it wonders. :D

I get approx 250/300km a tank, however thats expected for the mods
When my EL was standard I got 400 - 440kms.

Having a f**ked auto is definatly the problem!

on take off,, a huge puff of unburnt fuel smoke.. at any acceleration rate...
HEAVY fuel consumption as above...
sounds like you have a land rover mate. FORdom is quite possible to get that without 2nd gear especially if your revving the crap out of it all the time. when mine was stuck in Limp Home mode that was 3rd gear only it sucked the juice and that was taking it easy.

Bit off topic here mate but just out of intrest what was causing your car to get stuck in limp home mode?

Mine's been doing this for a while now and i cant figure out whats causing it. thanks.
