Has anyone managed to get 270 km's to a tank of fuel?
the car is a 97 futura with a replacement motor (apparently less then 150k's)

I filled up full last week Tuesday ($93  ) and im almost out now and only done around 270k's..thats pretty shocking considering i don't have a full time job yet, and still studying.

Not really going to search for the a problem at this stage, as im changing the motor in 2 months (au motor :D )

not sure if i can continue to run the beast if its going to cost me more then $100 a week..im expecting consumption to be similar with the new donk aswell due to the big cam and i wont have enough money for a tune straight up.

I should also mention that my auto is f**k and doesn't have a 2nd gear at the moment, so that could be it, and im also in love with the exhaust and the note it produces at high rpm's..

whats the lowest you have got on a full tank

atm im averaging 22-25 litre per 100... but there is some thing clearly wrong with the way my engine is running...

1500-2000 shudders vilently...
think plumes of fuely blue smoke out the exhaust at idle..
on take off,, a huge puff of unburnt fuel smoke.. at any acceleration rate...
HEAVY fuel consumption as above...

I used to get about 300kms to a tank, was a combination of rooted oxy sensor, vac leaks from when a reco motor was put in, and a dead cam angle sensor(this was an EF and i note yours is an EL so doesnt have one)

sounds like you have a land rover mate. FORdom is quite possible to get that without 2nd gear especially if your revving the crap out of it all the time. when mine was stuck in Limp Home mode that was 3rd gear only it sucked the juice and that was taking it easy.

I thought i had it bad getting 320ks out of 55L.

It helps now that my brake caliper isn't grinding away at my disc

Isn't blue smoke meant to be one of the signals for a rooted head?

not all the time. could just be worn valve guide seals not sealing properly and letting oil into the cylinder, or f**k oil rings.

lol, I get over 700k's to a tank in my EF mont, healthy engine with a good induction setup and normal sort of driving with the odd fang here and there. I'd be spwin' if I was getting 300 odd k's.

I would first look at the Temp sensor in the intake and water. Next the O2 then perhaps a leaking vacuum hose or leaking injector.

I'd say matty's MAP sensor has either come loose or s**t itself. That the only sensor failure I can see to make a car run that rich.
