hey all

happy new year

i have a problem i am building a 4.0l motor for an el i bought it from a wrecker and he said it was out of a ef but when i bought the bearings and everything the conrod bearings are good but the main bearings are completely different just wondering if anyone can help the number on the side of the motor is VR2A-6015-AB if it helps

That sounds like an EL/AU Hybrid block. They used an AU crank within a modified EL block.

They are a better block and crank for strength. And are generally smoother than their EF/EL equivalents.

If it came from an EF, then someone swapped the engine into this EF. Otherwise it must have come from a very late EL. Very few wreckers know of these engines.

So if you want to keep rebuilding it, its off to the bearing shop for some AU bearings.

hey thats awesome so does it take an ef el head or an au head or is it specific to that motor i have everything and the bearings were changed today to AU ones so were sweet

all of the heads will fit fine.
