Mate just threw in a stroked ecotec 4.2 in his vp wagon. whippled, intercooled..the works. Hoping for about 500hp at the wheels.
After watching the saloon cars go head to head on the weekend, i dont doubt holdens power...even if it is just stock vs stock.

heh tell me about it. he just put it in and has done about 700ks worth of running in. Waiting till about 1000k's before he hits the dyno for a proper tune.

His old motor put out about 410+rwhp on stock internals with 10psi boost...before it blew up. Daily driver btw.

These ecotecs are getting there for a lil b**ch motor.

I doubt that the extra .4Lt makes all that much difference....there must be a huge amount of port work, pistons...not to mention balancing, these things are rough as guts

but what i want to know is how far the I6 is behind

Just a six ran a high 12 last time i saw it. VN or VP.
Falcons would be pushing 260-270 fwkw off its nut i'd gather.

This is a vehicle that my brother in laws boss owns. Its a VT V6

The motor is different. Stroked to 4.4L with steel offset crank, 4 bolt mains, roller rockers, O ringed block, and then there are the heads. The heads are worth more than my car, they are based on a different setup, but have been made to suit. Has had about 40 grand thrown at the motor, driveline and setup, as well as the car, About 3 weeks ago it made 605 rwhp on 18 psi, it will be stepped up once they get a few things sorted with the rockers as well as the bottom end.

not to discredit that car as 600hp at the wheels would be a hell of a ride... but Pyroay made 451rwkw which equates to 604ish rwhp with a turbo falcon 6.. IIRC he said it had more in it but needed a bigger turbo..

Why you would bother with rattly old Buick is beyond me.. either the Holden 5.0 or LS1 is a much better place to start if you want big power.

Well the car was built for 2 reasons, One was to crack a low 9 with the bottle to get the crown of the fastest ecotec in Aus, second reason was to give a big up yours to CMP (chris mills perfomance, Long story).

Im not a fan of it either but I have heard it once on boost on a dyno and it did sound great. It ran 18psi then, it will be running closer to 25 when its ready for a track tune.

As for Pyroay, after a Mystery Monday a month ago (street drag) it ended up doing a 16.5 after wheel spin all through the gears, and something chronic happening with the motor, in the pit it sounded like a coffee grinder. But saying that the car was daily driven and maybe fresh it would've handled a helluva lot more, hearing that car on boost was a privelige I cherished. :P

Dont like the buicks either, but with enough money thrown at it it can move, though I reckon if it wasnt for the blocks and bottom ends on the falcon, we'd have alot more seeing heaps more power.

The Falcon's have been hamstrung to allow even competition. I know the Commo's get shorter diff gearing, I think the Falcons have to carry ballast and a few other things. IMO, the buick is second rate in every way except stock economy compared to the i6.
