Hey all just found this place and i love it! having 2 ea s pack 5 spds at my place and my old man having a au xr6 vct i think we'll all like it!

anyway....

My dad and i have a lj torana sports sedan (wait dont have go at me yet!), but were putting a 4.0lt falcon motor out of a ED in it instead of the holden junk (mainly coz the torana weighs nothing!), and was wondering if you guys could help me track down differnt places i could get race cams, valve springs etc, and also and mods we could do to the race motor that you guys know. (dads a mechanic and ive lived with cars my whole life!)we already have a t5 for it as well so work is well on the way, ill try get some pics up to show you all the rebirth of a torana into a TORALCON!

cheers thanks guys
:D

nice work mate. i seen this one gemini with a 4.0l I6, damn that thing went like stink. if a good cam is what your after theres three places you can try.

- Jim Mock Motorsport
- Battens Performance Tuning
- Alted Performance

Wade can grind you a custom cam or buy an off-the self cam

good luck with the car, and keep us posted on the progress

cheers

When did bpt start doing cams? They dont mention it on there website.

as for cams, crow and surecam have nice race cams (bigger than anything youll find at places like JMM because nobody in there right mind would put it in a street car). Im sure wade can come up with something as well.

I thought i would throw some ideas into this torana project idea!!
Would'nt u be better off puttin an SR20 turbo in it?
save you alot more money and the car would go alot harder then a 4.0l.

Still, the reason toranas didnt come out with big 6cyl motors was because it upset the ahndling(sr20 wont upset it), obviosuly your not setting it up for circuit work, you are setting it up for a drag setup? But if u were setting it up to drag race, why are u going manual? IM confused.

Its a sports sedan so the engine will be mounted down low and a fair way back, thus maintaining perfect balance. If you weren't going to butcher the firewall and floor then an SR20 would be better but if you are going to cut your car up then nothing beats the falcon 4.0.

um
an SR20 is a s**t load lighter.. and with the turbocharger would put out more power.
Heaps more aftermarket performance parts for the jap turbo motor.

For a race car a ford 4.0 isnt a good idea, considering its not built for revving or racing. How many sport sedans that are running well run 4.0ls?

Hell you might aswell chuck in a v8 if ur not worried about hte extra wiehgt of a 4.0l....

Why not wack the 4.0lt in it. Good to try something new and if you got one spare then go for it. Good luck and get them pics on here

Thanks for the opinions guys, main reason were using the 4.0lt is coz we got a motor running not long after being reconditioned for FREE! and picked up a t5 for $300 from another mate, and mainly yeah were doing it because its weird, closest ive seen was a lj sports sedan with a xf falcon head on it but the head was turned around facing the wrong way, lot of engineering in it but man it went. so far a fair bit of the firewall is gone and all of the g'box tunnel has gone!

That will be one weird machine! To say the least!

I won't dis it tho, as i own a Torana, a Fairmont, Kingswoord & Mighty Boy.

Why not run the ford engine, it's a large torq'n motor, it wouldn't need to rev too hard to motorvate ( lol ) a torana, esp if bits of the torry are going missing in the name of fitting the running gear.

I can't wait to see a pic!

Cheers
