my head on my 3.9 cfi EA is gone enough for my car to run like total s**t on start up and for it to chew through its oil like an oil lamp :? . luckly though a mate of mine has stripped a 4.0ltr EB, and he can give me the entire top of it (head, intake, injectors, exhaust) for nothing since no one seems to want to buy it, i also bagged the 4-speed auto gearbox + everything that goes with it - SCORE!!

anyway, question, will the 4.0ltr head + cam fit my EA without the computer throwing a tantrum, or should i just swap the head only?

cheers

it will go on and work, but compression will be low so it wont perform as well as a 4.0.

not really conserned about peformance (i thought id never hear myself say that  ), besides the head does need a shave to clean the crap off it first so i guess i'll get them to take a bit more off it when they do.

anything else to look for/consider befor hand?

Its still gonna chew oil, 'cause the bottom end is stuffed. So puting on that head isn't gonna cure that.

Cam works fine, i've got an EF cam in my old worn out DA LTD, i only changed it because it was chewed up but it made no difference to the running of the car.
