Hello all, first post on this forum. i like it already !!
I have a 1992 EB 4.0 Gli im on my P's in VIc so no forced induction allowed.
I was reading Street fords and seen EB/ED's in there with EF/EL/AU engines in them.
Im an apprentice mechanic and rekon it would be a mad learning curr to get a later model engine and rebuild it. with guidance. I want to do it on minimal money, but realise some does have to be spent. What would be the best ? on a budget that is. Any help would be appreciated. !
Thanks

welcome to fordmods!

in my opinion, an AU engine is the best starting point, theyre basically bulletproof.

you can use the Broad Band Manifold and Dizzy and run it as an EL engine with EL ECU. pretty sure the auto bellhousing is the same.

Either EB accessories or the XH ute serp belt & accessories.

Cheers

I think most of the XH stuff is the same as EF/EL, just the tensioner is slightly different to clear the EB style manifold & TB setup. EL ECU will work. If that's the case, just need to get all the EF/EL stuff & just a XH tensioner. I'm not sure on this tho, need to see what other members have used to do the serp belt conversion.

Is your car a smartlock EB or not?

Cheers

If you keep your ECU it will, if you got a EL you will either need a J3 that disables smartlock in the ECU, or fit smartlock.

Cheers
