I was under the impression that the ECU is not needed but recommended as the car behaves as factory. Auto ECU = different?

with the resisotor mods, You have no problems with an auto ECU in a manual car ... I've been running auto ECU's in my car for almost 2yrs with a T5 and never had any problems at all ..

whiled we are on the subject of gearboxes, mines is actin a bit funny, when i go around corners, more so when sideways, but straight aswell my shifter bounces from left to right, what could cause this? also can you put a celica or supra 5 speed in falcons like the commos?

check your engine mounts, or gearbox crossmember for damage!

I broke 3 engine mounts with my old motor!

The supra box conversion is possible. Ive seen them around

As for the shifter, what about when you put your foot down? does it move?

Check your engine mounts?

Cheers

Some people say yes, some people say no. It would be much easier to move the dash. You don't take it out copmletely, just undo teh dash, and move it foward a bit. Then you can get to the bolts.

Cheers

Mate, I had all of the parts already from melbourne. I stripped my fairlane which I brought up here, and used all of the parts from that. As for wreckers up here, have you tried southside new and used? From the ones ive been to, they are about the best so far. By the way, keep your eye out for an lsd diff for me next time you are at a wrecker

I have a 1995 manual XR6 5ps manual wagon and would not swap it for the world. Family car, towee for the boat. Just had the clutch done and the installers did a small mod on the clutch release....put in a 2mm shim behind the flywheel (I think), it made the clutch work SO MUCH EASIER....it may have been because some part was a bit worn however it changed the leverage angle slightly and it is MUCH better.

Also, is there anyone else in the club with a manual wagon.....I have K&N'd it, extractor and neoprene bushes to hold the rear end. Tow a 1500kg boat, leaves oil burners for dead in the hills on New Zealand...and I am usually still in 4th gear !

Go manual transmissions anytime :D .....

Cheers
