gday all i have a 94 ef fairmont and yesterday about 5.30pm it devloped a burning smell from under the bonnet i have narrowed it down to the drivers side of the car, it smells like burning oil, also a few days ago it developed a chugging sound only on first start up, car is slightly over due for oil change.

could these be linked together?

what do i need to check?

cheers all

have you topped the trans fluid up lately? if you get a little bit on the exhaust it will smell as it burns off, my old fairmont also leaked out of the rear trans seal where the driveshaft is, it used to send trans fluid everywhere and smelt bad constantly cause it was always burning off the exhaust.
