Hey guys, just obtained my 3rd BA but first turbo.
Just a couple of questions regarding some minor work that needs to be done.

First off, idle issues, it will idle alright but sometimes just drops and struggles for a second, also struggles a little as you start bringing out the clutch.
The 3 main things I've been told to check are TPS, throttlebody gasket and coils, any ideas?

Next is the bush on the clutch pedal, does anyone know what the part number is or even it's specifications?
Mine is missing and there's a fair bit of play in the clutch pedal.
This is the bush the goes where the pedal connects to the hydraulic cylinder.

Third last is a noise from the back end, doesn't sound like the diff, it only makes it when I'm decelerating, I was thinking it was a bearing or something?
What bearings are back there? I'm assuming there are ones either side of the diff and then the wheel bearings?
Are they hard to change? does the whole IRS setup have to come out or can I leave it in?

Second last is the slack in the shifter, it's a 5 speed, I think there is a bush in there that's gone, is it hard to get at?

Lastly is an issue I found the other night, when hard accelerating through first and second it will hit the 6krpm limit fairly easily, but when I do it in 3rd it will stop at 5krpm at almost exactly 120ks.
Do they all do this or is there a problem with it?

Cheers in advance.

First issue: I would be checking to make sure that the HEGO was ok and the Catalytic Converter hsn't collapsed inside.

Second Issue: There is NO bush serviced separately, you might have to go to a wrecker and see if you can get a busted Master Cylinder and get the bush from that.

Third Issue: What sort of sound? whirring? There are bearings in the Side of the Diff and Pinion Bearings. BA/BF/FG have oil leak issues with side bearing seals and, one thing that does come up a lot is CV joints. The Diff would have to come out and you would be silly to only replace side bearings and not Pinion bearings, you would also need to replace diff seal and pinion nut and collapsible spacer, there are also smaller needle roller bearings on the side of the diff.

Fourth issue: There is a bush at the bottom of the gear lever but it is not easy to change and, you will need to replace a lever as the bush is part of it. Part Number is EL 7F018 A and will cost you $144.00.

Last issue: Sorry but I don't know much about that and, it may be a built in thing?

No worries mate, thanks for taking the time to reply :)

What is the HEGO? I'll check on the cat, it's the original exhaust so it wouldn't surprise me.

As for the master cylinder bush, I'll get under there with a vernier and try measure it and make one at work.
Nylon would be a safe bet.

The sound has a little bit of a grind behind it.
Might pull the whole lot out and change all the bearings, is the IRS setup easy to remove?

As for the shifter bush, it might cost the same to just put a short throw shifter in.

cheers

That is the Heated Exhaust Gas oxygen Sensor, most people call it an O2 sensor.

The IRS is a big job, you will need a floor jack and stands, Ford dealers usually allow 5 hours to do the job. It might also be the CV joints?

I hope that helps :)

I'm not sure, I am able to go over that speed but not at full throttle, for example, if I shift into fourth it will casually just cruise past whatever is limiting it.

I'll see if it keeps doing it after I change the O2 sensor, the ECU could be restricting it for some reason.

As far as im aware the car should get to 160 in 3rd and keep pulling to the limiter.

Well not that i need to drive like that but thats what my BA owners manual states. Maximum speeds in each gear.
