Last week I managed to pick up a new header tank and new coolant level sensor for $102.
Guy at Freeway Ford in Cranbourne stuffed up the quote, thought the listing "coolant tank with sensor" meant they came together as a set for $102. After he ordered it he found it was just the tank with the hole for the sensor. Atleast he stuck by his quote and included the sensor, otherwise it would have cost me $170

Now I can see the coolant level without a torch! :D

Think I need a new sensor, that damn low coolant level keeps coming on and the surge tank is like 3/4 and a bit full.

its usually just the float that cracks or whatever and starts to fill up and sink
you can just buy the floats and dont let any ford spare parts tell you otherwise

Float? How I go about replacing it and where I get one?

It looks fairly easy. When you pull your switch out you will see the little white float on the end. You can easily take this off and replace it with a new one that you should be able to get from ford spare parts. for a fraction of the cost of a whole new switch

if the actual price is higher than they quoted then they should moraly have to provide it at the quoted price.

they did that with my cruise control cable,,quoted me $80 but the actual price was $130,so he had to give it to me for the quoted $80.

They did! it would have cost me $170, but he stuck by his quote of $102

As it turned out it was just the float, however no Ford dealer around here keep them as stock. Price of float is about $23, Sensor-float-seal is $58-$65

Till_Lind to replace the float, drain/syphon the header tank, unplug sensor then unscrew the white plastic ring on the side of the tank, I use a pointed nose pliers. Sensor just pulls out from tank. float can then be removed from sensor.

Similar thing happened to me a while ago when I needed a new fuel level sneder for the EF. Called local Ford and made sure they had one and said I would pick it up next day. Was quoted something like $37. Turned up next day and was told it was now $107 as Ford restructured the EF spares pricing (past the time frame they were required by law to stock EF parts). I yelled bloody murder and got it at the old price.

cheers
Scott

Not sure, but if you can't I,m sure you'd get from a wrecker from a broken tank.
