hey guys, just curious as to what's the go with abandoned cars, as in my neighbourhood, there's a ex taxi ef falcon with a tickford lip kit on it parked curbside with no plates, i asked the houses it's out front of as i was initially enquiring about seing if they'd part with the kit but they say it just appeared the other day out of no where and hasn't move since.
friends say it happens and council just end up coming to claim as metal recyclables.
any info from experienced people, as if the councils just gonna destroy it, i might as well grab the kit.

counsil puts a notice on it for the owner to move it, or they will tow it and sell it or if its worth f**k all which a beaten up ex taxi is than they will scrap it if its not moved, if i was you id just tow it home the night before the council do and strip what you want off it and put it back for council to take haha, they put a sticker on the window for 14 days notice i think before they tow it?

Only flaw with your plan is if the vehicle has been used in a crime etc and is wanted it will put you in a very ordinary situation proving it wasnt you that did the rape etc when you are in possestion of the car in question.
Best case scenario you will be done for stealing the car.
Better off reporting it to the cops and keeping an eye on it.
If it is wanted for something unsavory they will tow it there and then to their impound. If that happens you most definately dont want it anywhere near you.
If it is just dumped they will report it to the council and speed the process up of getting rid of it. If the cops just walk off and ignore it well tread carefully but do it.

cheers for that, never even thought of it that way, i might go see what the cops have to say about it and offer them my idea, if they know where it's heading they may be able to put it to a good cause such as myself, lol.
oh how i can dream...
being that the cops are pretty local i guess if they're willing to turn a blind eye i shouldn't have a problem.

the cops usually dont give any help on this stuff they say call the council, council like to just take them and scrap em so just pinch what you want off it or at least offer to buy it and see what they say, save them the towing fee

I think it might be best if i keep the hands off til i'm completely sure what the go is with it.
But if someones got a garage and can tow for me. lol.

Why would you take the boot lid if it is a lip spoiler?

Yep thats right.

As the car is not yours, taking anything from it will be classified a theft, dumped car or not. If Mr Plod sees you taking anything from it you will be see as stripping someone else's car, dumped or not. Tow it away to strip parts and it is car theft.

Hope the lip spoiler is worth it, they are a couple of hundred dollars new in Fiberglass. Think if it is worth it having a record for that or anything. I am sure your employer will be happy having a car thief working for him or her.

By the way Teeroy, just because the cops are local do you think they are going to turn a blind eye to car theft?
