Sorry if this is getting off the topic, but I need to know. I am doing an engine swap from '90 model EA CPI/4 speed auto to all ED MPFI/4 speed auto. I have the entire ED for parts, so I was going to swap EVERYTHING, looms, ecu, entire dash, steering column, engine and trans. Now what i'm not sure about is do I need to replace the fuel pump in the EA? The EA is a CPI wagon, and the ED is an MPFI sedan. Will the sedan pump fit in the wagon? Please let me know, I would like to put this all together this (long) weekend.
Cheers. :D

Why doesn't the top one need to be cut?
Using an au belt, ef power steering pump and ef compressor, the rest is au gear, will the belt fit within the tension range, and is there a mark on the tensioner to tell when a belts stuffed? It looks like it needs 10mm taken off, instead of 4?
thanks

the top one didnt need to be cut as the bottom mounting holes are offset compared to ef.
the top one is in the right spot. but when you go to fit the bottom ones the std spacers are 4mm to long.

im using all ef acessories and belt. originally i used the std spacers on the bottom and spaced out the top one 4mm, but i had a extremly hard time getting the ef belt on.
and when i finally got the belt on the tensioner was maxed out.

once i swapped the spacers around the tensioner is spot on..

What combination of PS pumps, water pump, compressor, etc needs to be used if AC is not needed?
Looking to fit an AUXR6 bottom end into my EB, with my ED head (recently reco'd) using standard manifolds and ecu. I never use AC so would like to avoid the hassle if possible.
Will I need any other parts to get the serpentine setup to work?

hi

they are identical engines but the cfi manifold and dizzy is different (obviously)
but the ea and eb1 has a v type belt and the eb2/ed should have a 3pk type ribbed belt? for the alternator, water pump but the pullies can be swaped over.
otherwise all the other parts will interchange..

can change the pulleys over anyway if you have all your existing gear. all early boxcars have their stupid insignificant (untill you try to do something) little changes but they are all easy to overcome.

the wreck i bought had all ribbed belts but my motor had v belts but the wreck had a bent water pump so i tried changing the pulley and balancer and i was lucky the shaft wasn't bent.

now i have one v belt for p/s and one flat belt for alt & water pump. just lucky i had the split balancer.

hi guys n gals this is my first time to ask a question on this site. this might sound like a silly question but can anybody tell me if a ea 1991 single point engine can be swapped for a 1992 muiltipoint fairmont ghia engine which is a 4.0 into the 3.9. what i mean is will the 4.0 litre go strait in to the engine bay of the 3.9 are all the electrics the same? thanks

it goes in the hole and does as it's told. it may not hurtto use the 3.9's engine wiring though. sometimes the pins can be different.
